Rakell and the NYR 1st for Clarke
If Clarke were dealt - HUGE if - this would work for me as a Pens fan.

Obviously most Kings fans are angry with mgmt and don't think he's been used properly/don't want to see him traded, but if he was, would this do a decent job of addressing the present and future?

I think LA would be making a mistake doing Clarke for Rakell, but it seems like LA is interested in Rakell and the Penguins really want Clarke.

The part that doesn't make sense to me is why don't they consider trading Spence instead? You can keep Gavrikov and Doughty as your top-4 RD, I get that, but why play Spence over Clarke?

You could likely get a pretty solid middle-6 scorer for Spence, swap him for a similarly aged righty goal scorer and just promote Clarke to his spot.
This makes sense but we have clowns making decisions. Our GM and coach are both awful.

Well prepare yourself for LA to make an awful deal if Rakell gets traded there.

LA apparently wants him and the trade market is absolutely cracked right now. At this point, it might just be Rakell for Clarke straight up.
Funny all that cover the Kings say Clarke is not on the table. If the ask is Clarke for Rakell the Kings should end negotiations.

I trust the media that actually covers the Kings way more than that guy. Your only hope is Rob Blake is the worst GM in hockey.

hahahahaha

I sure as f*** don't

you mean the media almost wholly controlled by/fed talking points by the front office in exchange for what masquerades as access?

In any other market this guys would be getting ripped to shreds...the LA market only has a handful of independents and they get refused access; the guys getting the 'scoops' are fed from the inside what they want to hear and are clearly getting puppeteer nearly every time.

I don't like it personally but not because it's totally unfair value. It would probably be the best of a terrible mismanaged situation.

I'll reintroduce my idea from earlier in the thread: Owen Power for Clarke +.

Sabres lose the better player but fix some of their imbalance of handedness on the blue line.

Kings get their future #1D for whose proper development they actually have the necessary veterans.

What would the + look like?

In all seriousness, is there a legit deal you think between the Leafs and LAK? I'd say most anything is available minus Matthews, Knies or Nylander (NMC).

We don't have much coming up at RD except Danford but that is years away, I don't know if the upside is much greater than a 2nd pairing guy but seems like the floor is a 3rd pairing guy.
knies is the only player of interest

I think it would be stupid for the Kings to do, they should trade Spence for a middle-6 winger instead and just promote Clarke. But let's look at the reality:

1. The trade market is absolutely bonkers right now, with a worse winger than Rakell in Bjorkstrand just getting traded for effectively a 1st and 2nd.
2. The Kings seem to have soured on Clarke and are regularly healthy scratching him and playing Burroughs over him. They also have an obvious need for a right handed scoring winger and are allegedly interested in Rakell.
3. Rob Blake's track record for trades as GM is terrible, with him making a "Clarke for Rakell" type of deal already with trading Faber and a 1st for Fiala a few years ago.
4. Gavrikov is talking with the Kings about an extension, so their RD group is going to be locked up as Gavrikov, Doughty and Spence going forward (assuming they don't move Gavrikov to LD).

Kings fans should hate it because trading a 22 year old recent top-10 pick for a 31 year old top-6 winger having a career year is stupid. But it's completely within the realm of possibility for the reasons I mentioned above. if it's not Clarke, it's probably Greentree and a high pick.

Don't think LA has the cap space but I would be interested as Power is LHD.
