to the wild? With retention

I wouldn't be expecting any retention; but we can likely take on a fairly sizeable contract in return.
If we LTIR Leddy, we'd have Krug entire LTIR money to work with(plus the 4.5 that Saad makes).

But if we're being honest, I don't see anything realistic on the Wild that I'd be interested in.

I wonder if stl would take a career ahl guy for Saad. No picks no retention, just one guy who probably isn’t an nhler.

Like one of those guys who doesn’t pan out at the nhl level but crushes it in the ahl.

If they move Saad they’re putting some fresh faces up the depth chart (Sylvegard, Robertsson) who haven’t gotten an nhl call up yet. So it would be nice to bolster that group. They also have a lot of prospects at the ahl level. I could see the blues prioritizing a winning ahl group for a few years.

Kampf + Robertson + a pick (if retention)

Doesn’t really help the reason why the Blues would move him in the 1st place.

He did the same thing last season and then got ultra hot for a stretch of time and ended up where he seems to end up every year.

I don’t think he’ll be moved until the offseason anyways, but we are going down a route that’s going well of Bolduc/Holloway/Neighbors getting ice time. All 3 are wings. Joseph deserves to play as much as Saad does at this point. Kyrou and Buch aren’t being scratched. Schenn probably needs to be a winger.

We need a 2C for sure. Getting a guy like Kampf only complicates things when Dvorsky is ready and moves Sunny out of the lineup - while not a big deal, but I also don’t think Kampf is any better so no reason to pay both of them to be bottom end 3C options for multiple years.

This also leads to the issue of why get Robertson. He doesn’t fill a hole here aside from being in the same age range. But then we’re going to run into the same issue over again.

I’d imagine it ends up something similar to what we just did with Fowler if he’s moved.

Friedman said tonight Blues are looking to move him and that he is amenable to it. He expects that it will be for pick(s). Saad likely would be much better fit on a contender, as he tends to look disengaged when on middling team.

Trent Frederic

I suggested this in the Frederic rumor thread and it wasn't that well received by Bruins fans. I'd wanna know if Frederic is willing to talk extension first. Can be hold down the 3c spot or is he better as a winger? We need a solid 3c more than anything else right now.

Blues will need the cap space before his contract expires.

For what exactly? Our cap situation is pretty seeable until any serious extensions are up. Fowler, Leddy, Broberg, Holloway, Texier and M Joseph all come off the books in a year and a half. That’s nearly 20m. Half will most likely be eaten up by Broberg and Holloway. But the year following Krug and Faulk come off. It’s pretty doubtful as is Krug ever comes off of LTIR.

We’re going to have a plethora of forward ELCs coming in over the next 3 years.

I just don’t foresee anyway unless we go full Oilers July 1 that we can be in a desperate cap situation.

Why does it feel like this dude has been in the league for like 30 years or something,
He was a regular in the league a year after being drafted in 2011. Did a lot his first 3 years with 2 cups and a WCF appearance in between. Guy has 13 years in the league and is already close to 1,000 games which is a long time considering the average career length of most players

Bruins fans are in love with the player, but on impact, he is realistically a plus bottom-6er. On a reasonably competitive team, like a team you're expecting to be comfortably in the playoffs, he's a 3RW. On a contending team, he ought to be on a 4th line. He's produced at even strength, but most of that was during a literally historically good season for the team, and when you watched the games, he was the worst player on that 3rd line plainly and clearly by the eye.

I think the value is a lot closer than Bruins fans will admit, but I still think the Blues add like a C+ future asset. 4th rounder some such crap

As mediocre as he is the Blues are better off keeping him as a warm body for the rest of the year when two of our better forward prospects are slated to join the team in ‘25-26 and then try dealing him in the offseason. I can’t imagine there’s much of a market for him.
agreed. but if they trade him I think we all kind of expect about the same: a 2d at best, 3d at worst

If he has a NTC then healthy scratching him is a way of forcing him to consider waiving
