It WAS NOT well past Barkov.
I would say roughly 10 feet away is “WELL PAST” Barkov. But I guess you know better

It WAS NOT well past Barkov.
(Unironically)Violas check cleared
Dirty panthers cant take what they dish out and have special treatment from the league
Ped enhancing cheating team
Really the suspension should have been more. The only intent there was to injure a guy. Barkov isn’t expecting to be hit because the puck is nowhere near. He’s turning to pursue it. This type of hit could happen all over the ice. Guys could target opponents regardless of where the puck is. It’s a very dirty play.View attachment 1023182

That's like half a second after Barkov attempted to play the puck. There's a well established rule that you have a window of opportunity to finish a check after a player gets rid of the puck. The only valid argument I see from Florida fans in this thread is that Barkov didn't actually touch the puck. I find it a grey area because he certainly tried and missed it. But that means 2 mins for interference max because it was an otherwise clean check.
You can see Hagel brace for the hit right before it happens, eyes and posture locked on Barkov the whole time.Yeah to say Hagel was playing the puck is horseshit. Watch the whole sequence from the red line on, and you can see Hagel’s intention come into play. It was all about the hit, nothing more. What do you expect when you have the king PoS player in Kucherov leading them.
What if that was Matthews getting hit? That's a 2 minute interference, suspending him for that would be a joke

They ARE all fine. There is 40 instances of interference every game not called. As we know the league doesn't give a damn about player safety so they chose to single this one out for a reason of their own

I'm mostly with Hughes on this one. The puck was definitely well past Barkov though. I still think it's a very typical "you finish your checks in the playoffs" hit though. There's the classic "whoopsie, I'm just an obstruction defense." This is more similar to the "you just retrieved it and passed it off because you see me coming, but I'm going to finish my check" plays. Those are happening really frequently and I think that's what went through Hagel's mind. "He missed it-well I'll finish my check." Those are less common mostly because NHL players usually manage to get the puck in these situations. It still goes uncalled like 90% of the time. It's always a penalty. We can litigate the whole putting the whistles away things another time. How many uncalled interferences are greenlight hits and not the standard 'sort of slide into the guys path accidentally on purpose' defense that's been allowed forever?
This hit wasn’t clean. It was well away from the puck. If it was clean there wouldn’t have been a major and suspension. I’m not familiar with the Trouba hit on Matthews. If it was well away from the puck, like this one, then it was also dirty.Matthews missed like several months a few years ago with a separated shoulder due to a hit from Trouba. I don't remember one Leaf fan complaining about it because it was a clean hit. You know, like Hagel's on Barkov.
I mean if we're going to just make shit up. Sure. Free for all. Do what you want. No skill in the game, just goon it up. Got to do somethin to try get Toronto a win. Because they sure can't do it under these conditions.Matthews missed like several months a few years ago with a separated shoulder due to a hit from Trouba. It’s sad to even think otherwise and have the nerve to defend that play, saying he was playing the puck. It’s an insult to the person’s intelligence to even think of posting that. And I’m the first to admit if a Panthers player was in the wrong, such as Bennett’s sucker punch last playoffs on Marchand. To say that doesn’t deserve what he received is either rage baiting, or needs to see an optometrist.
Feel free to point out where you admitted Bennett was in the wrong for tackling and driving Knies' head into the ice putting him out of the playoffs 2 years ago. Incidentally, Knies was nowhere near the puck on that play either and was just finishing a check after Bennett touched the puck. I'll wait.
Edit: FYI, this didn't even draw a penalty let alone a suspension.

That's a good hit and a veteran play by Bennett.
As was Hagel's on Barkov.
Yes, except it was illegal. The Bennett hit was obviously legal since he didn't get penalized.
LOL, he punched him the face with his stick and tackled him to the ice nowhere near the puck and drove his head into the ice giving him a concussion. "Obviously legal".
The only obvious thing is it's pointless to try to discuss this with you guys. Enjoy the game.
is missed high stick a legal play?Yes, except it was illegal. The Bennett hit was obviously legal since he didn't get penalized.
It's hard to admit when on the receiving end of preferred treatment, clearly.is missed high stick a legal play?
Im just trying to find where you draw the line on crazy takes
