Cut/Released: Brandon Aiyuk

Remarkable levels of crash-out for a player whose only adversity has been a bad injury. It's Mr. Big Chest-esque.

I thought for sure he was going to the Commanders next season, but he honestly feel like a player who will be talked up briefly during the offseason, sign a contract late, and get cut.

I wouldn’t pay Aiyuk more than a n incentives based contract. If he hits he can make the $25 mill or something. But he’s got to produce. And first earn my trust since he has no built up equity.

Yeah. You have no clue if he’s going to be reliable and committed to your program.
The Niners have been a solid organization in the Shanahan era. If he can't be a professional there, i really doubt he can get his act together anywhere else.

No way he doesn't have significant CTE.

No one with a functioning brain (and a qualified agent I suppose) would be handling things this way.

I just wonder why he hasn't been cut loose yet, do the 49ers think they can get something for him?
Seems personal to them now in that they want to wait Gil the last possible moment (24 hours before their Aussie game vs rams) to cut him. He’s now a vested veteran meaning his 26 base salary would be fully guaranteed once that time comes.

Sorry for the AI response but I read something similar on ESPN or nfl.com...

49ers haven't cut Brandon Aiyuk because they have zero financial downside to keeping him on the Reserve/Left Squad list, where his contract is essentially frozen. Because he failed to report to the team, he isn't being paid, which saves San Francisco millions in active salary and allows them to stretch past bonuses against the salary cap.
