Brampton Steelheads 2024 25 Season Thread Part I

Wasn't expecting that game last night. Didn't have a chance with that start and it just seemed to get worse as the game went on. They need to right the ship quickly, I really think they need the split in Oshawa, if they don't winning 4 out of 5 is a pretty tall order.

With the reasoning above I think tonight is pretty much a must win game despite it being only the second game. Get a split and anything can happen so they better get off to a better start.

Well they got the split but with the way Oshawa dominated the game I’m not too optimistic that Steelheads can keep home ice advantage. They just stopped skating in the third period.

Lets hope the huge Brampton crowd gets the team going tomorrow :\

Good thing they got the split but they dropped the ball last night. I'm certainly not liking their chances of winning this series with what I've seen, Ivank hasn't looked like the goalie he needs to for the Steelheads to win, but there's plenty of blame to go around. Maybe they rally for a win tomorrow to tie the series and give themselves a puncher's chance, it is junior hockey but I don't like the odds of them winning 3/4 over Oshawa.

Ok, plenty of negatives to go around but let’s not kick a team when they are down.

The positives from game 4:
1. Zebeski was outstanding. I don’t think he lost a puck battle all night.
2. Karmiris had his best game of the series. Some great passes and good fight all game.
3. Chiarot had a number of good chances. He’s always putting himself in good spots.
4. We won the shot count for the first time. It’s not much but it beats getting outshot 2:1

One game at a time now. Win the first period tonight.

Good points, I've noticed Chiarot a lot more as the season wound down and during the playoffs. Zebeski has impressed me as well.

We have zero points from:
Karmiris
Zidlicky
Witkowski
We need these guys to contribute today. Would be nice if Chiarot and Lane provide more as well.
Can we win another game with just Martone, Misa and Rehkopf contributing? I don’t think so.

I never want to see anyone get hurt but if Brampton wins this series, their biggest blessing was Ivankovic getting hurt. Gillispe should've started game 4, some would argue game 2 but I believe 4 for sure.

They have to roll with him the remainder of the playoffs now if Richmond has any sense about him. Regardless if Ivankovic recovers.

Zidlicky is on the fourth line with Richmond at centre, the right winger will be filled by committee, so I'm sure he won't get that much ice/chances.

As mentioned above, really need greater production from the bottom 6. Tough to be missing Sova, MacDonell and Alriksson (he would have been a perfect top-9 winger for playoffs).

Hope they can keep the momentum going from last night's win

Agree. Ivankovic was kicking rebounds right into the slot almost every time. Not sure what happened to him.
Gillespie played ok today. I think he whiffed on the second goal though. Nothing a goaltender can do when 5 of your forwards don’t put up a point over 6 games (2 of them being first rounders)

Good luck to the Generals. They played very well and despite their fans being far too numerous for my liking, they were very well behaved 😜

4300 last game and 4600 today. Good sign for you guys. Maybe attendance is better next year. Won’t average that obviously but a big improvement from what Mississauga was getting if you can average about lets say 3000-3400

Half was Oshawa lol

The attendance numbers from this series are EXTREMELY misleading as the crowds were at least 50% Oshawa fans. Maybe even more than that. If Brampton had been playing North Bay or Sudbury, I’m certain they wouldn’t have sniffed 3,000 in attendance.

With the way you guys started the season I wasn’t expecting a 1st round exit. Was this a surprise to you fans?

Yep. That first couple weeks gave us high expectations for sure.

And how they ended the season, disappointed with 3 home losses in the series as well.

The team aborted their go for it year lastime and traded strategically for this season, same result, first round loss.

Yes, very frustrating. I thought this lineup had the potential for a run of some kind.

Oshawa showed us that we aren’t even close. And next year we won’t have the weapons we had this year.

The rebuild starts on Friday.

Couple big questions for next year.

1: is Martone back?

2: Who else comes back?

3: How big of a leap does Ivankovic take?

4: To retool, or to not retool?

5: How do the 2 first round picks fit in?
