Bragin is not cut out to be an big leagues coach - for many reasons:
1) he expects his players to listen and obey
2) he expects them to play a system - his system and fully buy in
3) he is first of all a motivator (best one there is out there today), but not a very good X's and O's coach

Coaching adults - this does NOT work, they stop buying hist motivational speeches and that's the end of it. He also overplays his best players heavily to exhaustion and has no faith in bottom 6.

Bragin should be a full time national team coach. Whether at junior or pro level. Either way. And be paid well for it.

It's also worth noting (speaking of the Blue Jackets) that Jarmo Kekalainen is currently a GM in Columbus. If a European can GM a team, there's no reason one couldn't coach.

I'd say Jukka Jalonen (who has openly said he's got ambitions to coach in NHL some day) would be the one would he'd give a shot at it. I think first as an assistant though. I thinka a combiantion of a European + North American coaches with Euroepan experience could work. They'd need to have the right type of tactical minds for it.

Yeah, that might work - some team with traditions of modern and tactical playing style, and starting as an assistant. But it would be super tough to try to break out there: lots of hockey related cultural issues and local prejudices against European coaching style etc. etc.

Didn't we have exactly the same thread for Karri Kivi couple of years back? :D

Bragin played and coached for a few years in the Danish league, so I suspect he must have learned some English during that period. I think he also used an interpreter back then, so I don't think he's anywhere near fluent. He was certainly a great player and coach for that league at that time. I don't know much about his coaching style, but my guess is that it was heavily influenced by the old Soviet-style coaching.

As some have pointed out, he didn't have much success at club level in the KHL, so I don't think he's a prime candidate for the NHL. If a Russian is ever to become an NHL coach, I suspect it will be a former player who has played many years in the NHL and thus has become somewhat 'americanized'.

If we're talking about extremely under the radar coaching prospects, Leonids Beresnevs could be a great coach not sure about NHL just yet but he's a great coach from the old soviet fart coaching tree and his kids play with impeccable strategy and precision. Dan Ratushny is also equally realistic he's basically been tearing it up wherever he goes in the west Europe range. I can think up a few U18 coaches who are great at their job too!
