I'm gonna be so stoked when we get Robertson and Marchment out of this

This is life in pro sports management. Stuff happens, you adjust. Walking into UFA would have been a catastrophe, and they avoided that, at least getting some quality assets.

The team last year was solid and tough to play against, and that shouldn't change. Will be interesting to see who's in the opening night lineup.

I think the reality comes somewhere in the middle, there is a reason Vegas odds had us as high as the did, what was it, 8th before this trade?
Those odds are nonsense, especially before the summer moves.

Dallas behind us was stupid. There were other weird rankings that didn't seem to make sense too.

Am I in the minority here hoping they flip the picks for an impactful roster player?

We all want this. Most are concerned what the “impactful” roster player may be.
I think it depends on the pick. 9th overall (or the 2029/2030 pick perhaps depending on how that turns out) might be different than the other ones. Unfortunately, the best tool for the Senators to acquire a difference maker for a long term is through the draft.

The Atlantic will be a tough division again this season, possibly more competitive than last year even. In the end, the Senators and what they do with this summer with the picks will be judged based on results. Hopefully, they’ll do better than just making the playoffs and bowing out in the 1st round.

There are some really really good aspects and some really really bad aspects.

Never imagined I'd live here in a million years but I've built a nice life with my wife. There are worse places.
I think there is a small number (myself included) that are Canadians that have moved to the U.S. I’d share some insight that reflects on a future stage of life. But, it would be in a more private setting versus on the board.

Doug Armstrong did media today and said their plan has accelerated because of Holloway, and they're looking for guys between 22-25 to complement him, Thomas, Broberg, etc.

Those guys won't be available.

He also said they called Ottawa on Tkachuk but Brady wouldn't go there, so that was interesting. Guy doesn't want to lead his hometown team.

I Didn’t realize Brady was such a little brother

Central Division is probably the toughest division to come out of with Col, Dal and Min, and Dal could be losing Robertson. Atlantic has a bunch of pretenders and teams aging out. Buf is losing Tuch and got goaltending that's unlikely to repeat, TbL lost Raddysh and keeps getting older, MTL was an OT merchant, East in general is just more wide open, Car and probably Fla will be tough (they still need a goalie) but after that it's pretty wide open imo. Vegas odds aren't a team rank, they consider the path to the cup.

Staios basically said straight up that Brady only wanted to play in Fla with his brother, something to the effect of they talked to a few teams but it became clear Brady wanted to play with his broth, repeated it several times on the radio interview with team1200

I think you are underestimating the Atlantic and the internal growth Mont and Buffalo will experience. They have a bunch of young, real impact players that are still on their parabolic growth curve, they will improve rapidly yoy and that will have a meaningful impact. We're past that phase, won't be improving that much internally, and they were already at our level last year. They are going to be better next year regardless even with Brady here.

Also, Montreal OT farming is not as bad as you seem to imply. When I saw their games, I saw a team that knew how to battle and snatch a tie or victory from the jaws of defeat. They were clutch, and had that fighting spirit that you need to keep on battling till the very end.

The amount of times they managed to come back and tie it late is indicative of something actually very good imo, and I don't view it as much of a negative that they pushed so many games to OT. I saw a group of kids gaining more and more confidence in their abilities to overcome adversity under pressure, they showed a lot of character. For such a young group, I was actually very impressed they kept on managing to get back in it, and a bit jealous because we couldn't do that most of the time.

You might be right about the Central, it will be tough slugging there all year, maybe the prospect of losing Robertson is what knocked them down a bit.
