I didn’t say he was bad, just underwhelming after all the “Playoff Brady” hype. Also one of his goals was an empty net stat padded after game 5 was already over. He was probably the 8th best player in the series behind Nylander, Matthews, Marner, Tanev, Sanderson, Tavares, Stutzle.

He can barely skate and still did that. Did any leaf fans ever watch the Ottawa Senators prior to this series?

Marner is WAY ahead of Tkachuk at this point. By next year, Knies will be considered ahead of Tkachuk too.

Knies was better too

If the leafs had Brady Tkachuk instead of Mitch Marner in the playoffs the leafs would be top contenders for the cup. Tkachuk is that guy everybody wants on their team but absolutely hates to play against. Also guy is a leader.

I am a neutral fan- not a fan of Toronto or Florida or Ottawa. No bias here and I saw Marner play in London for years. He’s a great player but B Tkachuk is built for playoffs. Also look at what B Tkachuk did at 4 nations.

We just watched him in the playoffs. Yes he had a couple pucks go off of him and in, but he also took awful penalties and failed to do anything useful defensively.

Hes essentially an unintelligent version of Matthew Knies, except can’t play the PK.

Is there some crazy stat I’m missing that Brady has? Because everything I’m looking at is showing me that Knies is on the same level while being much younger.

Knies had more goals, assists, points at 5v5.
Knies had 1 min less per game on the PP
They were similar in hits, Brady way more PIMs (not a good thing)

Quote me in 3 years because at that time, it won’t even be a conversation anymore.

That's about where I am when comparing these players. Marner's the better player, but his next contract that he signs this summer is going to be ridiculous. For that reason, if I had to choose either one of them to be on my team, I'd rather have Brady.

That said, I'm a Utah fan and I'm hoping that we go after Marner in free agency this summer. I don't consider trading for Brady to be realistic. Sure, it is said something like "every player is available for the right price" but I shudder to think about what we'd have to give up if we traded for Brady. Probably not worth it.
 
Marner is probably the better player in a vacuum, but I’m easily taking Tkachuk for the Leafs, who desperately need what he brings.
