He's definitely been a playoff underachiever. I'm not denying that. In particular, he's been poor late in series and brutal in Game Sevens.

But when I think of "empty calories," I tend to think of points that aren't very important or are easy to come by. I was wondering if that poster has stats that show that a large percentage of the points he does score are irrelevant or something. I'd say he's a good and important regular season player but disappointing in the playoffs. I find that different from being a bad team scorer or an "empty calories" player.

I voted for Marner in this thread. But he doesn’t at all play like Iginla. Brady T actually does play a lot closer to Iginla’s game. Why argue with that?

It’s pretty ambiguous as to whether you can accommodate Marner’s contract or Tkachuk’s and how you want to allocate those dollars. "Who would you take on your team?"

Other Marner vs. Tkachuk polls have been worded differently. This one doesn’t ask who the better player is.

Some people actually read the poll question while others don’t.

Marner is essentially redundant on Ottawa with Stutzle here and Tkachuk is also the Captain of the team and brings a skillset that no one else on the team has, which is why I voted Tkachuk.

It makes me laugh every time I see a maple leaf player losing a poll and the arguments are that the ‘star’ players on the other team already do the thing.

If you wouldn’t take Marner because you have Stutzle and Brady, why can’t you make the playoffs?

If they were better for your team then I’d expect you’d have had at least made the playoffs with them.

How did you come to that conclusion? Physicality-wise yes but not production wise.

Marner is much closer to iginla than Brady will ever be. But I guess by that logic you’d say Reaves is a lot closer to iginla than Marner is too lol

I’ll take Brady Tkachuk 100x out of 100 and I’m not a fan of either team. Marner more skilled Brady is more suited for the playoffs- would be a beast and maybe a better goalscorer too
