Agree w everything you said. I was more on the side of if you get EP40, you figure it out. The kid is top talent, Sens have multiple C’s who could play wing, but that doesn’t mean they should. I for one think Greig should be given a good look at 3C for now, maybe alternate Norris/Pinto at 2C/W. I’m w you on Greig being better at C, more natural position for him. We all know BT only gets traded if he tells them he’s out.
ok so that would mean you make the trade then have to trade Pettersson to get... a better/more impactful winger than Tkachuk? I don't agree "
Sens have multiple C’s who could play wing" outside of Greig who probably tops out as a high end 3rd line C/W. Pinto and Norris are much better suited at Center than Wing, but even if you move them to Wing, they're more 2nd line forwards. Norris was 1st line caliber before his injury problems but it's not clear if he can get back to that level.
So if you make that swap, I guess you go :
Norris - Stutzle - Gaudette
Giroux - Pettersson - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Perron
I don't know... Wings are too far from what it needs to be IMO. But at the same time, it's tempting to have that kind of Center line... so I guess if you attempt to mayeb trade Perron, re-sign Giroux to 3rd line money and get a real stud winger for Stutzle, maybe but how and how much would it cost considering EP makes A LOT
They’re still trying to make it work, which I understand cause there’s no denying the amount of young talent they have. It’s also frustrating cause it doesn’t make sense on how they haven’t been in the playoffs. They’ve kinda exhausted all options…from HC, goalie, defense…GM/Ownership…lol I mean wtf else should they do??? I don’t know, it’ll be an interesting few months that’s for sure.
New ownership only start last season, unfortunately they didn't have the balls and/or the timing was bad for them to get rid of Dorion and DJ Smith (the REAL problem that has been plaguing this team) but eventually did in December but it was a bit too late to save the season. The team did very well after a few weeks under Jacques Martin but the guy is old and doesn't to be a full-time coach anymore.
Things are starting to look good, they are 15-13-2 but they have been much better than their record says. They have dominated more than half of the games and played tight games in most of the rest. Their losses against the Rangers, Islanders, Philly, etc were very frustrating. Even the 2 back to back loss vs Vegas and Colorado, they were leading late in the game but somehow found a way to lose. They could easily have 5+ points in the standings. We'll see where they are really headed. I'd say they looked like a playoffs team in 80% of the games so far.
some people are speculating that Petey and Jt. Miller cannot coexist.
Hoglander is also in Tocchets doghouse
lets couple that with the fact that Ottawa still cant win games and are in need a shake up.
Van-Ott trade of the century.
Pettersson + Hoglander
for
Tkachuk +Pinto
both main pieces are about the same age, both Hoglander and pinto are very much under performing and again around the same age.
this might be one of the few trades where Ottawa isnt getting like a mix of lesser pieces / picks / futures etc
I don't think Ottawa would be very interested in an Hoglander type. They let Brannstrom walk because of his size (and his QO was 2.0, + Hamonic stupid NMC, lol all stuff related to the Canucks)
I don't think they'd be interested to trade Pinto anytime soon, particularly now when his value is at its lowest.
