Melnyk being gone is definently a step in the right direction.Sure, but this is a story that has persisted for almost 7 years at this point. It was a story before he signed his ELC... it was a story during his ELC... it was a story during the contract holdout... and then he signed a 7 year deal... and it was still a story.
The team starts to make serious, structural improvements - from ousting a completely toxic owner and GM, to bringing in actual veterans with pedigree and ability, to replacing the stale and overmatched coaching staff with a fresher, deeper, more well-supported one, to going from a bottom defensive team to a top one (analytically and statistically, at least).
But the story remains. So Brady's statements get stronger and stronger, more and more clear, and he reaffirms his commitment to the team/the room and the city pretty constantly.
I don't think Brady will be a Sens lifer, but it seems that even he is getting frustrated at the media imagination of him with one eye on the doorhandle.
He also was very upset and made poignant comments after missing the playoffs again last season. He wants to win in Ottawa, no argument there, but if he feels he can't, for whatever his reasons may be at that time if it comes, then I would think a lot of things would be on the table.Sure, but this is a story that has persisted for almost 7 years at this point. Good value, not sure we could give up Gus as currently constructed however.
Knickers in a twist? I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Everything you said about what happened is totally accurate and I never said otherwise. I literally just added context about Brady's response after Matthew's initial comment, and how it may explain why recent comment was different. It's pretty funny y'all's nickers are in a twist. Matthew was asked, he simply said that Brady would have to come down here cause he ain't going up there. It's that simple, seems like Canadian media jumped all over it and took the simple answer out of context.
The team needs to continue growing and accomplishing more, absolutely, or it will be in everyone's best interest to shake things up.He also was very upset and made poignant comments after missing the playoffs again last season. I am a fan of a team that found itself in a very similar situation with more regular season success than you have currently attained. Core pieces will be on the table if this continues. The team needs to continue growing and accomplishing more, absolutely, or it will be in everyone's best interest to shake things up.
Don't think that would get it done from an Ottawa perspective, but I would be stoked. If Zito was ruthless af he'd probably trade Verhaeghe before his NMC kicks in, Luostarinen, and a first for Tkachuk, so a weaker version of the Matt Tkachuk package.
And I have said multiple times they have taken strides, which you have yet to accept. A team that has been cooked by December every season for 7 years, is in a playoff position with 2 months left to play and no they aren't looking up at Boston, who is below them in the standings
Rebuilds are very seldomly linear, straight from the outhouse to the penthouse isn't a direct route.Careful there young Padawan, the rug pull can happen easily when you are trying to make the playoffs for the first time with a core. We went through that years ago just trying to establish ourselves as a playoff team, it's not easy.
True and this core has had multiple tries, but a new coaching staff and not having hands down the worst goaltending in the NHL has done wonders. Like I said, regardless of whether they make the playoffs this season or not, they have taken a huge strideCareful there young Padawan, the rug pull can happen easily when you are trying to make the playoffs for the first time with a core. Eh, seem defensive af, but OK. He literally just said that his brother would have to join him, his response according to y'all seems overly wussy-ish or he was told Matthew's word out of their context.Knickers in a twist? Chill.
I don't believe for one second that missing again would be considered huge steps forward for the city or fanbase.True and this core has had multiple tries, but a new coaching staff and not having hands down the worst goaltending in the NHL has done wonders. I was really just joking, but I didn't say anything about extending anyone. If your argument is Brady won't want out because Sens have a good, extended core, fair, but I also wouldn't put too much weight into that being a reason he won't.Yeah, its not like the Sens have been able to extend pretty much every core piece in the course of their rebuild…
The on ice product has shown huge steps, especially in the last 2 months when they maintained a playoff position using their 4th string goalie, in the tightest division in the league. You haven't watched them play enough is all that means and I stand by what I've said, they have taken a huge stride and the standings show that in spadesI don't believe for one second that missing again would be considered huge steps forward for the city or fanbase.
IMO summer of 2028 Brady heads to St. Louis in UFA at the age of 28. I believe Matthew will still have another couple of years on his current contract. The only way they play together is near the end of their careers in St. louis
Then you clearly have a low bar to cross on what you will consider success. The on ice product has shown huge steps, especially in the last 2 months when they maintained a playoff position using their 4th string goalie, in the tightest division in the league. Who cares if he asks out? It doesn't mean the Sens have to accommodate it. And if all they're getting is 26th-32nd picks and cap dumps, why accommodate it?If Brady asks out while his NMC is in effect, he would have the Sens over a barrel on where he would be willing to sign off on.
That is the only way I see it as palatable for the Panthers.
Pipe dreams at this point.
Ah ok, now you're just being insulting, but at least you're finally admitting you're just assuming. No one who has watched every game the Sens have played doesn't think they haven't improved in a big way, period. At this point though it seems like if I say water is wet, you will just continue to argue with me, so forgive me if I stop responding. I've made my point, the team has progressed, but you don't watch them and just want to throw shade, so have funThen you clearly have a low bar to cross on what you will consider success.
Not another Sens fan here is saying what you are. They all watch the team as much as you do I'm very confident in assuming.
When is the last time a team didn't honor a request like that and the result was positive. I never said you should take a bath on the deal but they will not simply say no and live with the results. That's for sure.Who cares if he asks out? It doesn't mean the Sens have to accommodate it. And if all they're getting is 26th-32nd picks and cap dumps, why accommodate it?
Blues will need to figure some things out, first. I agree that St Louis would be his #1 choice in a vacuum, but I don't think he would leave for a team that isn't close to contention.IMO summer of 2028 Brady heads to St. Louis in UFA at the age of 28. seems like your the one with their knickers in a knot, Brady basically told his brother to shut up, not the Canadian mediaIt's pretty funny y'all's nickers are in a twist.
