Value of: Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
And those issues are what in your opinion?
Those solutions can be considered fixes, when and if they fix the issue of not being able to get it done.

Cant win a thing by missing the playoffs. Need to be invited to the dance to be able to test out these solutions you consider being addressed already.

So far incomplete grades.

Honestly if I'm Staios I strongly consider seeing what teams are willing to offer for Brady prior to him getting his NMC.

The Tkachuk family has shown they are ruthless in how they negotiate, and I don't think they'd hesitate to push Brady to request a trade once he gets his trade protection if the Sens don't meet expectations this season or next.

I suspect some asset rich teams would be willing to give up an absolute crap ton of value to add a player with his rare skillset. NHL GMs are dinosaurs and go crazy for these types of players.

If Staios suspects a Tkachuk trade request is a real possibility, he'd be better off maximizing his return prior to July 1st when he gets his NMC.

And again, first full year after everything off ice was overhauled. Patience is a virtue

Florida had a presidents trophy winning team, the 7th or 8th best regular season ever in the league, lost in the 2nd round and we still made major changes to the core.

These guys are not locked in by missing the playoffs year after year.

Then stop calling it resolved and stating huge strides are being made, you are in position for a WC with 30 games left, not quite there yet I'm afraid.

I have said multiple times now, that we will see. You have yet to accept this.

Ullmark is turning 32 this year.
Sure, but he is signed for $8.5m and Knight has a pretty significant ticket himself.

Knight would be a very nice luxury but not one we would necessarily be able to afford under the cap, and not an especially pressing one. I think Ottawa should secure a backup for next season beyond Merilainen but that is just me preferring a conservative approach... he has proven that he is capable of playing at the NHL level.

The only way they play together is near the end of their careers in St. louis
I don't disagree, was just saying that Matthew won't be going to Ottawa and he's said he wants to finish his career. We'll see if that happens or not.
Ullmark is turning 32 this year.
Yeah, but he's signed for longer than Knight likely wants to wait.

And Knight is still overpaid for a kid who hasn't proven anything. Besides, Leevi is 22 and looked awesome, so no one is Ottawa is worried at this point
I would take Knight over Ullmark moving forward not really close either IMO.

Not sure how Knight or Ullmark has anything to do with anything in this thread however.

Other than Ullmark being another example of the FO opening the coffers for a guy that has yet to accomplish anything with your team yet.

At the All-Star game: “could you see you and Brady on the same team?”

Matthew: “well, he’d have to come down here cause I’m definitely not going up there.”

Clearly annoyed?? Haven’t seen that anywhere, would be pretty lame if he was “annoyed” by that.
Brady has talked about what Matthew said, and he shot it down, as Matthew likes to talk a lot he said, and I’m not him and not interested.

And I have said multiple times they have taken strides, which you have yet to accept. A team that has been cooked by December every season for 7 years, is in a playoff position with 2 months left to play and no they aren't looking up at Boston, who is below them in the standings

I get Sens fans being confident and positive in the direction of their team, I just don't personally give out the roses until something is actually accomplished.

They should make it so if you don’t pay state taxes you also get 10 million extra salary cap.

Why stop where we stopped when we can push further.

Florida should get to build a team with only 27-31 year old star players in every role.

The one pesky 23 year old has to go, can help the rest of the teams be cap compliant with his lower aav.

We should actually look at taking cap away from teams like the Senators. They shouldn’t be allowed to have 2 star players because their players pay much higher taxes. Their teams captain absolutely has to go be a role player on a no tax team, be traded under value, and probably even some retention. Under no circumstances should Ottawa be paid fair value if a trade occurred. Zito has to wait to fleece them.
The no state income tax thing is so overblown. FL residents still have to pay federal income tax, which is far higher than state levels.

Knight has proven nothing in the playoffs, which is apparently the only metric you care about, and Ullmark won a Vezina, so cool for you, keep Knight then. And Ullmark is part of the core you brought up

Sure, strides from drafting top 5 to top 15. Agreed, but, I don't think you believe that is the ceiling do you?

And is being paid top of the market money before even playing a game for you guys.

Knight could lose in the 1st round this year and match Ullmarks, career playoff successes.

Like I said this thread isn't a shot at the Sens like you are fully taking it to be.

I hope it works out for you guys. But there are still lots of balls up in the air in Ottawa.

Again, they're in a playoff spot , which means drafting in the bottom 16 and the odds say they will make the playoffs, as do they people who have watched their progress this season, whether you agree or not

Let's see when the season ends.

I will be happy to call it a step forward, when it is one. This isn't the first time your core has been in a WC spot before the season was over. Let's hope they qualify this time before celebrating it as a done deal.

If they fall out of a spot and miss again, I doubt the same diatribe will be so heavily fought for.

He’s annoyed because he is asked about it ad nauseum and he has to constantly reassure that he wants to stay here. I dont think he was/is annoyed with Matthew, but the aftermath that he has to deal with. Going to Matthew and asking him to be more careful with how he discusses this with the media is the simple fix.

It was either on Brent Wallace or Ross Levitan’s podcast, he said something to the effect of “Matthew doesnt speak for me, people assume that we want the same thing but we are very different and his path isnt my path”.
Brady has talked about what Matthew said, and he shot it down, as Matthew likes to talk a lot he said, and I’m not him and not interested.
It's pretty funny y'all's nickers are in a twist. Matthew was asked, he simply said that Brady would have to come down here cause he ain't going up there. It's that simple, seems like Canadian media jumped all over it and took the simple answer out of context.

Could, hasn't yet, so that's just meaningless speculation. No, this thread isn't a shot at them, but you questioning the contracts handed out is somewhat, but mostly just about Sanderson. edit: as you just did again with Ullmark. Ya, they paid a recent Vezina winner a fair salary for 4 years, I don't see that as a bad thing, but apparently you do for some reason. He was stuck draggin around the corpse of Travis Hamonic for half the season, so his numbers are off, but there's a reason he's on team USA. But I digress, there are balls in the air for every team and we'll all see how it goes

Brady is likely not gonna say he's leaving his current team though right?
Sure, but this is a story that has persisted for almost 7 years at this point. It was a story before he signed his ELC... it was a story during his ELC... it was a story during the contract holdout... and then he signed a 7 year deal... and it was still a story.

The team starts to make serious, structural improvements - from ousting a completely toxic owner and GM, to bringing in actual veterans with pedigree and ability, to replacing the stale and overmatched coaching staff with a fresher, deeper, more well-supported one, to going from a bottom defensive team to a top one (analytically and statistically, at least).

But the story remains. So Brady's statements get stronger and stronger, more and more clear, and he reaffirms his commitment to the team/the room and the city pretty constantly.

I don't think Brady will be a Sens lifer, but it seems that even he is getting frustrated at the media imagination of him with one eye on the doorhandle.
