Well, they don’t need Knight since they have Ullmark, and I’m not so sure I want to bust up our center depth even though I’d love to have Brady on the team. Don’t care about the two firsts, drafting isn’t a strong suit for us, though we’ve done better with firsts recently.

Brady appears to have a NTC that kicks in next year (years 5-7). Right now the price for him to us has to be high due to the hype around him, so it’s likely not the time. Zito will probably have to wait out his contract.

Would love the chaos, though.

They should make it so if you don’t pay state taxes you also get 10 million extra salary cap.

Why stop where we stopped when we can push further.

Florida should get to build a team with only 27-31 year old star players in every role.

The one pesky 23 year old has to go, can help the rest of the teams be cap compliant with his lower aav.

We should actually look at taking cap away from teams like the Senators. They shouldn’t be allowed to have 2 star players because their players pay much higher taxes. Their teams captain absolutely has to go be a role player on a no tax team, be traded under value, and probably even some retention. Under no circumstances should Ottawa be paid fair value if a trade occurred. Zito has to wait to fleece them.

This isn't the NBA. The world doesn't really care if the tkachuk brothers play together. Its always cool to see family united at international tournaments, but come on.

Cant see ottawa interested in trading Brady for anything less than an overwhelming return. How about for matthew tkachuk? 🤭

Matthew has an NTC or NMC and has said Brady would have to come south.

The world would love to see the Tkachuks together. My world anyway. Lol

Florida will just wait until the cost isn't Earth itself.
Zito isn't paying 4 1sts for Brady Tkachuk.
Brady Tkachuk isn’t being traded.
I mean it's a debate, but after the four nations I think the world wants to see him with Matthew. Unless it's true that Brady wants to stay in Ottawa.

But I would imagine going to Ottawa would be something along 2 1sts, 2nd, Spencer Knight and Anton Lundell.

Probably 2 firsts a second, Samoskevich and sawchyn. And they honestly still don’t do it. I don’t see why on earth they would ever pull the trigger on a brady Tkachuk trade. The 2 firsts and their promising young prospects will probably still never pan out to be on Brady’s level.

Obviously not this or next year but when he has a year left and if Ottawa isn't in playoffs or making a deep run that year, he will be put on the block if he has no intention of staying in Ottawa.

What Matthew actually said:
“We’re not taking this moment for granted or lightly at all,” Matthew Tkachuk said. “We know with our situations — me in Florida and him in Ottawa — that we’re most likely not going to play with each other in the NHL itself, so this was our best bet.”

Feels like the kind of thing that would only happen through free agency tbh what would compel Ottawa to trade him in division and have to play against him for the next 5-10 years? In the world they even do trade him.

You’re both wrong. Besides the obvious Matthews and Marchand being booed by Montreal fans the players were booed during intros.

And obviously the players didn’t like the anthem being booed either. You guys can makes excuses for that but it’s incredibly disrespectful.

For the most part Americans have already been leaving Canada when they have the opportunity. This is just another reason.
f*** the faster they leave the better. I got absolutely zero time for any American crying about disrespect. The lack of self awareness is honestly ridiculous at this point. Respect is earned. I’ll leave it at that.

When Barkov was out at the start of the year Lundell was PPG when he got to play top six minutes, he would pop without a doubt given a bigger role and linemates. Knight looks like a starter with a high ceiling that has typical young goalie consistency issues. Those two alone would be a high price to pay.

But then add two 1sts and a 2nd on top? Nobody has gotten that kind of package. The intangibles are great but Brady's production is nowhere close enough to demand such a package.

What would the pieces need to be in your opinion?
I don't think there are any tbh at the moment.

Think about where both teams are. Why would Ottawa trade Brady with 3.5 years left on his deal if they don't have to? Also why would the sell for futures when they're just out of their full, scorched earth rebuild and still haven't made the playoffs?

There'd have to be a hell of a roster player coming back, plus an overwhelming amount of quality assets to pry Brady from Staios.

I know panthers fans will laugh but if Barkov isn't in the conversation then there's no conversation to me. And not sure why Florida would do that at this point in time. I really don't think I'd want a combination of good pieces for a unicorn like Brady. It'd have to be ridiculous at this point in time.

Also gotta remember that they're in the same division which isn't nothing at all.

If Brady is ever traded from Ottawa, it'll be in the last year of his deal, and likely to a Western Conference team.

Even though I've been rooting for the Stars to acquire Brady.......
I believe it's always been only a matter of time before he is playing with his brother on the same team, and most likely probably is that it's with Florida.

I agree with most of this outside the Barkov comment.
This trade only happens if Brady requests leaving Ottawa anyhow which won't happen until he had a year left like you said.

Acquiring Brady wouldn’t come close to Barkov. That’s ludicrous. Ottawa would be adding quite a bit to get one of the best two way centers in the world.
