Player Discussion Brady Tkachuk (LW) - Part XI

Tkachuk is scoring.

Making big hits.

Isn't taking stupid penalties.

Something everyone wants him to do, including his critics and you want posters who have critiqued him to do what exactly? Be mad that he's playing well lol?

Gtfo with this small dick energy
Pretty sure he just wants people to start being positive about and supporting Brady, instead of using him as a whipping boy like usual.

Lol, I was poking fun at Nick Rutkowski's legendary quote getting Sens fans pumped up on radio!

You couldn't handle PR worse than they did if you tried.

Ironically, that was the year they had the most faux cap and were spending well below the floor in real dollars.
Rutkowski was a legend for bringing in those cheap all beef hot dogs that have now been replaced with the over priced pork ones :(

Yeah you guys rode his ass, so why can't you do the opposite when he's giving you what you want? Too proud because he's making you look foolish? What is it? Is it more enjoyable shitting on a guy?

The game has been over for 30 minutes and I can't believe no one bumped this thread to remind us we need a new captain and he can't lead us anywhere. We won't get into his shot volume.

You losers were quick to get on his case and rode it hard when you were adamant he couldn't give you what you wanted. You morons would have been riding his ass if we were swept, and here we are after YOUR CAPTAIN pointed to center ice claiming they'd be back and here we are going to game 6 making the Leafs sweat and you guys are all crickets. Cowards.

Own up.

Zadina is a late bloomer.

I am a HUGE Brady supporter, but I actually agree with the guy who says they should strip him of the C. Except I'd take it one step further and give it to the most random player to try and play psychological games to get the best out of Brady. Like Tristen Robins gets a call in Belleville right now that he is expected at a 10AM media conference where Michael Andlauer will crown him as the new face of the franchise, while Brady is expected to watch from the corner of the room like he's Chris Philips.

WOW. How do you feel now? Yeah, they should strip Brady of his captaincy and give it to a player with 1 goal in Belleville. Candidate for stupidest post of the year. The Karlsson ceremony reference is solid though.

Edit: Forgot to switch accounts.

With Brady we are up against 2 deadline for him maybe leaving Ottawa:

1. Competitive team and Cup window

2. His family wanting to establish roots in the place they’ve live long term. Not sure when that is but I’ll say in 6-7 years when he’s got kids who need a bit more stability then moving every year for NHL a hockey. Maybe that ends up being Ottawa but my guess is he’ll want to settle in the USA and raise his kids there

I think the only deadline is 3 years from now, with a soft deadline 2 years from now when they can talk an extension.

I think that if we continued where we were trending in late November and finished in the basement again, he'd be gone this offseason if not earlier.

That is not the same as saying he doesn't want to be in Ottawa, or that Staios doesn't want to build around him. It would be unprecedented for him to stay if we were bottom 5 for the seventh straight year of his prime and his NMC was coming into effect.

After that playoff series, the only way he's gone is if Staios is nuts and trades him after indicating publicly that he wants to build around him.

3 years into the future might as well be a lifetime and our situation is so fluid. Staios did a very good job re-tooling and improving on this team in his first full year as GM. So the positive side of me hopes that despite the difficult situation he inherited with a lack of assets and a bad cap situation, that we can be better next year after he has another full offseason.

Not really. This isn’t McDavid or Crosby we’re talking about. Only Sens fans have this deep insecurity of players leaving.

Honestly...I'll agree with this. Brady is definitely growing on me, and proving he deserves that C. I think, as fans, we need to grow, too. Ottawa may not be New York or have the Cali beaches, but we're a good city and hockey town. Time to have some confidence in this market and ownership group.

We don't need to beg anyone to stay here anymore.

I don’t think there is really a fear of star players leaving anymore under new ownership. Really just a fear of Tkachuk leaving, whether that’s because of his family history, the constant rumours swirling, a brother he could potentially play with etc. It’s a somewhat unique case.

Ya, im not worried about Tkachuk leaving as long as we keep trending upwards or stay flat for a bit. If we trend backwards then both sides need the change at that point.

Also goes without saying Sens will also have to pay a premium on what other teams would be willing to pay at the time.

We would have to pay Brady more than what other teams need to?

Why would we need to do that?

Brady is not going anywhere as long as they keep making the playoffs and becomes a cup contender. I have a feeling that Brady really wants to win a cup here in Ottawa. Now if the team regress and miss the playoffs then who knows, that's why it is so important for this franchise to build on this season and make the playoffs next season.

It's likely they make the playoffs again next season with most of the players still on contract for next season & it's likely they re-sign Giroux. But at some point they need to replace Giroux, Perron & Jensen the three old guys. I assume they see Zetterlund as a top six replacement for one of them & Yakemchuk eventually for Jensen, but they will need to sign a UFA top six free agent to replace Giroux at some point to stay a playoff contender.

Giroux RW - ???
Perron RW/LW - Zetterlund RW/LW
Jensen RD - Yakemchuk RD
Forsberg G - Merilainen G
Gaudette 4th line C/RW - Halliday C
