I'm so glad I detach from this place when there's a sliver of negativity coming from a losing streak or somebody not playing well or whatever other "controversial" event.

I don't know how Brady doesn't get hurt more often, and I suspect he was playing injured for a while during his cold stretch. He's a tank and will go through a wall for his team. Anyone complaining about him playing in that tournament is ridiculous. He deserves that right and not only that, but it's even more special for him since he got to play with his brother.

Pinto and Norris both being out is a bigger problem. Tkachuk on the shelf just made it official that there wasn't much hope last night.

The Brady hate is unbelievable. The dude plays through everything. If he's out, he's legit hurt. He played his heart out for his country just a few days ago. He also signed here long-term when he could have bolted like his brother.

He's not the only one out after 4 nations. The team needs others to step up with our injuries, Batherson, Giroux, Perron, and Amadio, were all invisible last night. A lot of forwards are AHL callups that hardly even get minutes. This is Dorion's fault for messing up our cap space. Don't point the finger at our Captain for being hurt.

He was and RFA, the team controls his rights. It was in his best interest to sign with the Sens on an 8yr deal.

He could have done a bridge deal and been out of Ottawa if he wanted to be in the US so badly. That is what Matthew did. He is the heart and soul of the team. He's not perfect, I give you that, but we are far better with him than without him. I hope he stays here for the rest of his career.

Any updates on the results of skills day, top fastest skaters, shots etc.
Pretty sure Noah Gregor won fastest skater and beat the previous record held by Colin Greening.

Hardest shot was Batherson at like 104.4mph I think. He didn’t beat Jared Cowen’s 109mph record apparently.

I think 2-3 players got 4/4 for the accuracy, Stützle was one of them. I think Giroux too.

Loving seeing that he cemented his place in our team history.

Gregor always has fast straight line speed in games. I'm not surprised he won.

Giroux missed on his 4th shot
Amadio for sure went 4 for 4

It all started last year or the year before when he came at the fans for not having adversity because they booed. That's when I noticed the sentiment about him started to change. I get he was trying to take the blame as captain to deflect from the coach and others, which is the right thing to do, but it was a bad choice of words to blame the people still in the stands however many years into Melnyk's failed rebuild.

If someone says they want to trade him because he has a NMC, or they think we can sell high, whether I agree or not, I am fine with that sentiment. I do notice that people seem to be waiting to see which way he will lean, so that they can come down on it. I guarantee you, had he played last night and only spent a few minutes on the ice, we would have gotten the same song and dance that Matthew is getting about how he cost us an important game by dressing when he couldn't player, or not resting so that he can join us earlier.

The reality is, this is a guy who spent his entire prime here. Just like we had to endure one of the most difficult owners in modern hockey history, so did he. The result is, he gave this team a major chunk of his prime without seeing any playoff, and while seeing almost no important games down the stretch. for 6 years. I'm not going to blame him for taking the bird in hand and going all out in a best on best final.

Unfortunately, it might cost us our season if he is out for long enough - but it's a catch-22 because if he was the kind of guy who would sit out that USA/Canada game, then he wouldn't be the kind of competitor that we'd need.

Will be absolutely fuming if we miss out the playoffs with 1-2 points.

This game could have been winnable with him playing, and he knows it.
Unfortunately, there were several winnable games that we lost that we could point to earlier than last night’s game. You can’t realistically pin the entire season on this one game last night against Montreal as if results from some those other 56 games doesn’t count.

I’m not sure that even with Brady in the lineup last night, the Senators would have won. They had some bad giveaways & turnovers that led to goals, and Ullmark wasn’t sharp.

As it stands now, we have 3 of our top 5 forwards injured. We don’t have any info on those injuries and know when these 3 will return. That’s the bigger concern in my mind. Even if we assume Brady comes back soon and isn’t hampered with anything that lingers, we still have 2 big holes at center. We are not the same team with replacement centers & are a much weaker team without them.

And I dont think the Tkachuks have some mythical bargaining prowess. Every great player has that same leverage through their agents. Stu will have it as well. And all agents will use it. I dont see the Tkachuks being any different or better at it. And again it appears to be our insecurity over maybe losing him but apparently no one else, that has whipped up a frenzy where sens fans are calling him names, questioning his character, and calling for his trade, perhaps hoping to Larry Murphy him out of here to avoid being hurt. I cant think of anything Brady has done that would warrant this. The team still looks poised with key pieces and an ability to grow whether it makes the playoffs this year or not. And that's what counts. We should get over this 8 year navel gazing i think. Past is gone, we are in the present. Looks promising to me, im sure Brady must see it too.

They have a tremendous track record for successfully maximizing their situation. Their family is loaded with connections to powerful and smart hockey people, like uncle-agent (or is it agent-uncle?) Craig Oster.

They also seem to work in tandem. Keith has found his Bob McCown with the Spitting Chiclits podcast.
