The whole thing combined with the booing of the Canadian anthem and the proud singing of the US and the players making it extra emotional WITH everything going on right now really left a bad taste for me.

I love Brady and was one of the first to want him drafted and to defend him every opportunity.

But all things equal, I’d really rather have good ol Canadian boys playing for us, right now at least. (Someone find a time machine and reverse the stone and Paul trades please)

Idealism. Never mind. Brady is one of the best senators of all time. I want him here as long as he wants to be here.

Less Hate. More Love.

NHL is an international league .. embrace it.

Brady is banged up right now or least not 100%. He tweaked something in game 2 against Canada and he didn't play in game three of the tournament. It was an extremely grueling tournament.
Elliot Friedman was saying how some teams might even be giving players a day or two off that played in the Championship game.
I expect a lot more out of the other 18 players that had two weeks off as they will be completely rested and ready to go full throttle.

people are critical of ovechkin and Gretzky for similar reasons. And rightfully so. This isn’t about being from another country it’s about criminal activity and those that support it.

Not saying anything specific about anyone in particular but I’ve got some unanswered questions now that I hope would get the right answers.

lmao at people who didnt wan't him to go to this tournament or wanted him traded. This is a perfect example of a captain putting himself and his team in the spotlight and it is great for a market like ottawa.

Almost all hockey podcasts I listen to are raving about Tkachuk and how good he is

It hasn't been that terrible for them, has it?

I know Huberdeau has taken a step back, but Weegar has been awesome for them and is locked in on a great contract for a while. And they still have a 1st round pick from that trade this year, which they can use or trade for someone.

They're already in the playoff mix, and with the emergence of Dustin Wolf, aren't likely to need any sort of full scale rebuild.

For a guy who wanted out, they did very well.
lmao it was terrible for them as they are a medicore as it comes and are in a rebuild

they had 4 ex guys in Fox, Hanafin, Bennett and Tkachuk in the finals of the 4 Nations game

Brady playing tonight and then missing Saturdays game (or any game after that) due to the injury he suffered last game should be met with absolute scorn by Sens fans.

Hopefully that’s not the case.
If it was Norris or Ullmark sure...but Brady? Nah I am hella proud. Dude plays the same way almost every night and will go through a wall for his team.

He should be celebrated for being such a good player. If he went to team USA and didn't play with intensity i wouldn't be happy . Watching how guys like Bennett, Hagel, Crosby who are all winners always be engaged in their play and going through players....wow. We have a good one here in Brady

Gretzky has literally actively shown to be a beyond just a trump supporter. Its a different situation.

I'm waiting for L'Aveuglette and Spyrit to praise Montembeau before Brady.

(Je vous niaise les gars)

I love Canada but wasn't really rooting for anybody. I root for France and Italy at the World Cup and that's about it. I'm not really "patriotic" outside of that. My favorite international hockey team is Sweden as a big fan of Alfredsson, Forsberg, Lidstrom, Lundqvist, Karlsson, etc. I also really like USA defensive squad and with Jake Sanderson on it, even better

Happy it was McDavid scoring the GWG and not Crosby though!

I am the same but bruh for this tournament?

Their president is talking about annexing Canada and a lot of that country and most of that team voted for and find nothing wrong with him saying it.

If you live in Canada how could you not root for them to beat the US?

This whole situation isn't even about nationalism or patriotism, it's about sovereignty.

Yeah I was going to edit my post but too late I guess. Seriously, I fully understand but I absolutely HATE the fact that politics have found a way into my entertainment as well. For me, it quickly make me lose interest in the tournament.

I "forgot" to talk about it in my post because normally, there should be 0 affiliation with politics. The whole Trump saga is ridiculous and he should have never been eligible to run for presidency.

Don't forget that many Americans are anti-Trump and even many that voted for him realize that they were brainwashed and stupidly tricked into it.

Finally, I don't really have the desire to talk about politics in general and certainly not here, but do you really think Canada annexing is going to happen?

I just know our boy Jake Sanderson is one of the few on that team who didn't vote for and supports what is happening.

He will be an Ottawa Senators captain one day.

Bennett, Fox and Hanifin have zero to do with the value of the return for M.Tkachuk, which is what the discussion is about.

It’d be like saying Ottawa didn’t get good value for Karlsson because Mark Stone won the 4Nations and Matt Duchene is now on a cup contender.

Your comment makes no sense.

Read this thread: Confirmed Trade: - [FLA/CGY] Matthew Tkachuk, c. 2025 4th for Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt, c. 2025 1st

People at the time fo the trade were shocked how much Calgary was able to return for Tkachuk. It's pure hindsight to say the return was terrible.

Big Walt would love nothing more than the Sens to gut their future and go all-in so Brady has the best chance of winning a cup in the next 2-3 seasons.

His son won't be stuck in Ottawa long-term to deal with the aftermath, so why would they care?

Just reposting a quote from another thread as it appears Big Walt agrees with me ;). It’s very telling of where Brady’s mind is at. He wants to compete for the Holy Grail, the silver cup.

The Tkachuk window is officially open now. Andlauer and Staios need to surround him with more talents to really go for the cup. A winning Sens can ideally keep it's captain and attract other FAs this city isn't used to.

Make hay while the sun shines (by not trading him for prospects/promises/spare parts)! He is the pre-eminent power forward in the league and Ottawa is lucky to have him as its captain. His brother Matthew can join him in Ottawa if he likes in a few years ;).

When fully healthy, this roster is pretty good for the wild card race and with a “friendly” schedule coming up, even higher ups for post season contention. So the core pieces are already here, time is nigh to really try to go for it while keeping the core intact.

Maybe it doesn’t happen at the TDL, but if there is an opportunity to improve the team now without trading away core players then they should do that. But you don’t trade away your best players, especially a cornerstone franchise captain like Brady Tkachuk.

Keep making those calls Staios. A veteran, rugged RD would be a nice add without breaking the bank.

Some of you talk about Brady like he is McDavid, or even Alfredsson or Karlsson.

He might not even be the 3rd best player on the team.

We have a Stutzle and Sanderson window. Not a Brady window.

Didn't we already do this with Dorions botched and rushed asset expenditure because Keith and Brady were saying so.
