Player Discussion Brady Tkachuk (LW) - Part XI

the questions is if you have the chance this summer do you try to move out of his contract?

obviously Josh a little or a lot overpaid but at the same time players like Josh is exactly how you win.

strong defensive players who can counter opposing stars but who can aslo score a lot of big goals.

the season Vegas won the cup William Karlsson only had 53 points in the regular season.

If Josh was making 5.9 mill like W Karlsson I don't think anyone would have issues with him

No way. Locker room chemistry is critical to success as much as on-ice stats. If you have a guy mildly overpaid (esp. If the cap goes up) but gels well with the team and is good in the room, you don't send him out for a slightly cheaper or better guy who isn't those things.

See: Duchene trade.

Norris contract is just awful and I said it the day it was signed and I am still sticking by it

I believe he has 0 assists in his last 7 games (1 goal?)

my mind his blown away that he has 1 assist in last 7 games

2 assist in last 16 games. Do you like this better now?

I'm not gonna argue he's earning every contract dollar but considering we were unsure if he'd ever even suit up again reliably at any point, he's played 36 games this year and has 22pts. He's gone cold recently but is still on pace for 31.8G / 18.2 A / 40 P over 82 games. The playing 36 games is by far his bigger accomplishment. If he hits 36 points it'll be his second best statistical season in the NHL.

To put this in perspective, those numbers are basically in line with his career #s. 84G / 219GP x 82 (Games) = 31.45. Similar for assists.

I think this is just maybe who Norris is, and he had one excellent season where he put up 55 points and got paid for it by our incredible GM at the time.

Must be really blown away on the goals then.
Can we resume all the Josh talk in the Norris thread moving forward.

I like the fact you want to waste your time with all that which I am not even going to read because you refuse to address the one point I made. Address the point that I have raised.

If you didn’t read it, how do you know the point wasn’t addressed. 😂

The last two periods were awful, but Tkachuk Pinto and Greig look fantastic and Tkachuk is the one that's going to get them going. He's such a shooting threat right off a pass.

Hmm maybe like a team playing a cohesive team game and defence helps goalies.

Could they all be related?
Except it didn’t really help our goalies for the first 20 games of the season.

And over Ullmarks insane December, from what i can see our defence actually played a little worse.

hmmm imo weve played better and more stable d in the last half of the season vs the first half.

especially with the forwards supporting the d.

They were playing that way in the first quarter season as well. They were top 5-10 in a lot of defensive metrics, just weren’t getting the goaltending early on.

You can have good metrics and also have catastrophic defensive breakdowns which is what this team was most guilty of.

They have cleaned that up.
