Ideally I'd like to have at least 4 forwards who throw decent hits and forecheck regularly. One on each line, and a couple of physical blueliners. Wear down opponents, and it also gives you a bit of a buffer if one or two of your physical guys are out with injury, that you still have a presence on the ice. They don't have to be pure crash and bang guys (obviously not on the top 6 anyways), but enough that opponents are always on the lookout for a hit.
Perron was brought in for that reason.

Hopefully when he comes back he brings tha to the third line.

Ever since he was kind of on the hot seat with a segment of the fanbase he has been playing great hockey.

Rarely see him cheat for offense and his board work is probably tops in the league. Extremely efficient at protecting the puck along the boards.
Interesting how the Sens best line last night was Brady, Pinto and Greig and how underwhelming Batherson and Norris are when BT is not with them.

I thought Batherson had a good third period, he looked pissed. Was moving his feet that draw the penalty that Norris eventually scored on.
Agreed on your point about Batherson. Norris is playing OK, but he doesn’t get much love from some here it seems. He’s got the 2nd most goals on the team, and 5th overall in points.

He just makes too much for what he brings. He is a complimentary top 6 forward. You just want more from him 5 on 5 especially in terms of helping to drive play.

Norris is good scorer and sound defensively but a below average playmaker. He feeds off other creative players which is not so good when you make $8 million per.

Ya, for him to be worth it he would have to be almost our go to option as a shutdown center as a playoff team who still provides 30+ goals. He can maybe get there but if other options are available to get out of the contract this summer I would look into it

We saw different games. They played well, and the advanced stats back it up.

They also combined with Sanderson to score the winning goal.

Heading into the season I think people would have happily accepted what he’s brought if they were told this is what he’d do coming back from b2b shoulder surgeries.

It’s a credit to him that he’s played well so expectations of him have risen, but I still think it’s gonna take a bit of time to see Norris at his full potential.

Around the bend
Brady has transitioned his physical play and board dominance from the offensive zone to the defensive zone.

He is really digging in as a winger battling the defenceman on the wall to get pucks out. He is in better position, so he gets to his spot on the wall with body position. If the puck comes to him now, you can count on it getting out.

Punishes the dman at the point when he gets a chance, and cleans guys out in front of the net whenever he can. Fun to watch him develop in the defensive zone this season.

My point was not just last night's game but in prior games playing without BT. Regardless in last night's game neither player nor Giroux registered a shot on goal up until Josh scored on the PP. That's unacceptable for $20 million of salary.

I figured a 60 point Norris was absolutely best case scenario.

So I'm pretty happy with him. This year is about not suxking and being healthy.

Next year is about growth

Yeah, but look at it this way, at least they don’t shoot waaaay too much in order to score more points. That would be much worse….
