Alfie's work effort? Certainly. His on ice antics? Not at all.
And what great things did Giroux accomplish as the flyers captain? No much at all.
Wat.

- longest serving captain in flyers history
- second in games played, points and assists
- 8th in goals
- first in OT goals and shootout goals
- 95 playoff games, 28 goals, 53 assists, and a +6

Not bad at all for a franchise with some historic players.

As a fan I see there lots of “it’s not them it’s us” out there

Brad Marchand said it best to a Bruins fan online who said about the Bruins Cup “we won a Cup” and Marchand said “you didn’t win shit, we the players won the Cup”

The players kinda hate us, so does the media. Ottawa fans are the most disrespected group of fans in the NHL, dont self hate

But we are entering an ugly time to be a fan, brother will turn in brother, media will blame the fans. You’re a good fan, so am I.

But we do have some blame here. Brady is a big strong horse with a cardboard horn glued to his forehead. We're the ones (along with the team and media) who made him out to be a unicorn.

We all pump up these kids so much, they think all they have to do is show up and wins will be given to them. None of the guys on the team right now are giving a 60 minute effort. And it goes well beyond this core. This has been a problem for decades. We shower love on these guys because we're so afraid of be rejected and losing them. Fact is, players move on. Not everyone will want to play here, and we should have more pride in ourselves and our city to say ok, cya!, when they want to go or don't appreciate playing here.

If Brady Tkachuk quits on a backcheck in the 3rd period and quits on a backcheck in OT, you have a Captain who quits on the backcheck, your eyes see it and it just becomes the truth.

Green is saying out loud - the players have to be better. He’s straight up saying the players are missing assignments and playing dumb, and they need to be mentally sharper and the players individually all have to be better. All of them.

And Green is right. The players do have to play better. Those little details and doing them consistently matter. (And win games.)

There was a game about the 10 game mark the Sens won where Brady scored late in 3rd period in a Close game the Sens were winning and I remember watching his goal celebration and commending him for his patience all game and how he really waited and trusted Green that he would get a scoring chance and he did and the entire philosophy seemed to be perfect - the Captain plays for the coach, system rewards Captain with a late goal, everybody is happy. THAT IS DEAD. It is no longer happening and that’s why they are losing and look disorganized. The players know the system works, they just don’t want to play it.

The players need to decide if they want to commit to a team game or not. I think right now they want their game to fit into the model and not the model take over their game. Key players don’t want to concede to the team game and that lack of trust is compounded by rookies making mistakes that aren’t backed up, soft goals courtesy the goalies, suddenly your little ship that was cruising is in a storm in deep water.
