At this point you need to start thinking about Brady’s motivation to play in this market, something has to be going on.

he can barely do press conferences this week, he can’t control his emotions or his game, Brady maturity and compete are so far below a championship level

Guarantee you he back checks every shift in the 4 nations and never lacks for discipline. Brady has it in him, he just won’t do it for Senators fans. He’ll sign your jersey, he just won’t back check in it

Sometimes I think Brady is getting coached from outside the organization.

Brady wants to be loved, and he knows he’s got one foot out the door, and that’s why he’s acting like a child, because he knows he’s not being honest in his game or with the fans.

All this immaturity and temper tantrums he’s having is because he knows he wants out, and hes stressed he will be disliked and the bad guy like Heatley, so he’s putting on this big emotional show so when he leaves he feels we understand the frustration and how unhealthy it is for him to be in Ottawa, he’s going to pretend it’s the losing, when he won’t back check to win.

This is sad that our Captain needs a day off after 16 games into a turn around season. It’s an act, have you ever seen a more immature athlete here besides Emery?

I'm focused on Brady because he is the worst offender and he is the captain. If he was some 6mill player with no letter I wouldn't be focused so much. He would be another Batherson.

But it is the same logic as putting blame on Melnyk and Dorion. Things get rotten from the top down.

Brady is the captain and does not act or play like a winning captain.
Disagree

Lol team had a different energy after he got kicked out i know all you guys felt it.
Yep they finally scored a couple of goals.
Hope that propels them Monday.

Sens at home for 1 more game so expect the rumours to be quiet, then they go out West cost for a week so expect a big American source to start the “hearing rumblings on a Brady trade” rumours to begin.

Keith was stripped of his Captaincy in Winnipeg for requesting a trade, won’t go that far with Brady, but there is a history there and the Tkachuks get what they want.

I like how the media loves Keith. He asked for new contracts, trade and did fck all in the playoffs. Made the conference final in StL the year he was traded there halfway through the season. Made noise everywhere he went and didn't deliver. Matt did the same in Calgary, I'm curious who keeping him in check in Florida.

Matthew doesn’t seem to care if people like him, Brady does.

Matthew embraces the bad guy roll, Brady does not.

Brady wants everyone to like him, that’s why he cheats for goals. Brady plays hockey for the cheers, Matthew plays hockey for the emotion.

Brady can’t Channel his emotion, Matthew can.

They’ve already been setting up Brady as the fall guy since last year. Alluding to rifts in the locker room between him and Giroux, Chychrun not meshing with the guys. Even down to Staios only ever talking about the mental reasons this team sucks when it’s clear it’s not strictly mental - there are issues with the roster itself too.

It’s all leading to a “Brady needs to go” conclusion. Unlike a lot of the takes in this thread though, I don’t really blame Brady. He wasn’t put in an organization that was conducive to growth. He does it to himself in some ways, last night was an example of that, but we’ve seen this narrative before.

Star gets traded, star had character issues. The Ottawa Senators though… never their fault. It’s just that everyone wants to leave them, evil players.

Dude held out for a contract that came with the "C". Showed up in the middle of a game to announce it on a balcony to a full arena chanting his name. A couple years later gives it to the fans for booing and picking on DJ. Has a big sulk when DJ is fired. He's doing it to himself. Agree he wasn't properly insulated. We should have kept Stone.

I don't blame him either, 8 years no playoffs and any player deserves to move on.

But I do think he should back check until that day comes.

That seems to be a phenomenon in here. Bad calls from refs, injuries, etc. are crutches that are used frequently, at least by some.

Another part of the trend is to find a villain amongst our star/better players. It happened with Chara (he was greedy and wouldn’t accept the $6m), Spezza, Zibanejad (didn’t train hard enough in the off season) and even Alfie for some time (wasn’t a player you could win with so trade him).

Yes. It's a soap opera.

The only player that is worth watching is Brady and sometimes Timmy.
I was hoping Ullmark would be.

The rest of the team is filled with soft, yellow bellied, sap sucking, lolly gagging ,non compete , also rans., non self starting supposed hockey players. No ability to produce on their own at all without Brady telling them what to do. Does Brady have to tie their skates too?
If you are a pro hockey player making millions of dollars a year and you aren't a self starter, than that tells me a lot about their leadership skills, not Brady's.

All the players you listed had experienced playoffs with the Ottawa Senators or pushed us to a president's trophy.

You're acting like it's the same people with the same criticism every time. And what's wrong with wanting to tinker to get a chance to win a Stanley Cup and asking questions when you can't get it done in the post season? Toronto is asking the same thing right now because they can't seem to succeed in the post-season. They're asking questions about Matthews, Marner, Nylander, their defense, etc...

The fact of the matter is when this team had no expectations - Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson were on cruise control.

Now that there are expectations we are finding out who has it, who doesn't.

Tkachuk doesn't have it, he needs to go somewhere he can be a secondary scoring threat. And he needs a two way center who can cover for his bullshit.
Norris seems mentally soft and this team doesn't have coherent leadership or overwhelming talent to salvage him.
And then Batherson - Green has glued him to Stutzle and it has been to Batherson's benefit. So we're batting 1/3 on core guys before Stutzle arrived.

I find it kind of funny that both major arguments being made here are not mutually exclusive.

Brady was put in a situation where he was not mentored properly, and he is failing to improve his game where it matters most, when it matters most.

What do you do in a situation like that? He's had years with one of the best former captains/mentors we could have possibly lucked into getting. At least Tim seems to have absorbed some of Girouxs mentality.

Idk what the solution is here, but making a change is surely one of the options. And if it comes to that, part of the blame will fall to previous management for poisoning the well, and the rest will be on the player.

Whatever happens next, the status quo simply cannot continue. It is, and always has been, up to Brady to truly lead by example. And if he can't do that, then strip the C, and make a trade. My loyalty will always be to the team, not the players.

I’m really not sure what your post is all about. But, IF you think it's about me not wanting to make changes, I’m not sure where you got that idea.

What I was really talking about is the history of campaigns to put these good players in a bad light before and after the trade has been made. Put the emphasis on the 2nd part of the previous sentence (italicized part).

The other point is that we seem to have a lot of excuses for why we don’t succeed and cite external factors. Maybe it's just that in comparison to the teams who are truly good, we just don’t stack up that well relative to them. That was in the first sentence that you seem to have neglected, or not understood, or whatever.

I do hope if we rebuild, that the fans recognize it will take time for results to manifest and success is not automatic or guaranteed.
