He's gonna look great riding shotgun with two far more responsible linemates
He's just not talented enough to drive a line. He's very good but he needs to be the second or this best player on his line. He doesn't drive play or play defence.

Brady Tkachuk and Timmy are the only reasons through 19 games to watch this team.
Going into tonight's game:
Brady is 2nd in the NHL in shots on goal 74
Brady is 3rd in the league in hits with 85

Senators team scoring Brady leads the team in goals scored with 9 goals 1 more than Timmy Stu.
Timmy 8-15 for 23 points
Brady 9-11 for 20 points

Tkachuk has highs, but way too many lows. He’s not a winner, and at this point, I can’t see him changing his game in the way he’d need to to win here.

Can he win somewhere else? Sure, if he’s surrounded by strong two way players and sheltered defensively.

But as a “leader”? I have many doubts.

This whole team is sucking but Brady LEADS in almost every category.
But the rest of the team are losers. They are inept.
When any of the other 20 guys on this team start playing then alert me.

He is our best or second best player on this team. Not sure the viterol.
We have a goalie that on most nights has been really bad. Brady can't stop the puck and lead the team in hits and shots and goals......etc.....

Brady and Timmy are the draws and do most of the work. I feel like Brady having a young baby at home has affected his play a bit. It's normal. He is a new father. He will adapt. I don't think some folks realize just how big a deal that is. Your first baby is a massive life changing event and alters every aspect of your life.
I have zero concerns about Brady in the long term. He is gold.

There are bigger issues than Brady
Not one player has played consistently above expectations. Many have played below expectations. For example many of the stars , Brady included, have an equal number of good and bad games. Norris, Batherson, Giroux Sanderson and Ullmark and even Timmy , like Brady have mailed it in too many times. People will point to Chabot as having a strong season but he's been steady rather than a difference maker. The main supporting players like Pinto, Perron, Zub, Amadio and Greig have been average at best. Jensen and Gaudette are the only guys you can be pleased with so far.

I think he'll succeed with an elite two way beast like Barkov there to cover up for his flaws, but our roster composition (although better than previous years), doesn't compliment his game and very few can.

Can't keep building around him when his play style is so flawed. His high level hits don't exactly inspire the team around him to do anything like we'd like them to, and its frustrating.

Brady is not the problem, but it is natural he take most of the heat.

If we had .900 goalies for most of our games, we would be in a much better position. Goalies take care of a lot of issues. We can't seem to get a game where the goalie picks us up enough to win and other than the LA game, the players haven't been able to support the goalies (with either offensive output or playing stingy D) when they are having a rough night in a way to produce a W.

That said, I mentioned the new baby in camp, and I still think the circus of adding a new family member is under-rated. It was all about nannies this or that. The emotional and physical toll it takes to have a newborn is significant, and while I don't think Brady has been that bad, in general, he should be given some slack.

its crazy how much excuses we give this core. its the owner, it's the fans, it's the coach, its the goalies, its the babies.

his effort on the 3rd goal down 2-1 with 10 minutes left in the 3rd was inexcusable for any player in the league let alone the captain of an nhl team. baby or not.

It is the players, I agree.

I don't agree that it is 1 player.

maybe its that the player who doesn't backcheck, plays d so bad that 5 on 5 feels like 4 on 5 when he's in the defensive zone, who blows the zone for offense, and cherry picks on the blue line is the captain of the team that is the problem?

like no one can actually deny that this describes Brady, and who the hell would want a player like that as their captain?

there is something actually wrong with this team mentally and leadership wise.

and brady is the mentally weakest player on the team.

He’s getting paid $8M and is a captain of an NHL team and you’re bringing up a baby he had during training camp? Stop this the excuses, he needs to be better period.
