Toronto's leadership gets questioned every year, and yet some of you guys are here defending it.

Again -

Auston Matthews puts up a similar number of shots, scores 2 times the amount of goals and creates more opportunities for his linemates.
Auston Matthews is at least as good defensively as Brady Tkachuk.

Yes. They choke in the playoffs each year. I'd personally put the most blame on Mitch Marner being a turnover machine who doesn't want to backcheck but Auston Matthews numbers dip too.

But who here is in a position to mock the Leafs? They are making the playoffs. They are cruising to making the playoffs again. Their fans still want to see changes. Their fans aren't absolving their captain of any blame.

Meanwhile here we are not making the playoffs, unlikely to make the playoffs again talking about Brady Tkachuk as some unicorn we can't move on from because we've had so much success at............. not making the playoffs. Oh but it's everyone else's fault. Not Brady Tkachuk. I heard one time Brady Tkachuk played golf for the first time and got a hole in one on his very first hole.

No I think it's more about their captain scoring 2 times more goals and an even bigger gap in creating opportunities for his teammates while being at least as good defensively.
So what you're saying is the Toronto making the playoffs with poor goaltending while we couldn't is because we don't have a generational player, and not because Tkachuk is a bad leader? Glad I could help you realize that.

Yea lol cuz they actually do all play detailed two way hockey which sets an example for the whole roster and have been a 100 point team their entire careers.
And yet every year we hear the best players on the team are not getting it done. So where is this leadership?

Okay so how do the teams without a generational player make it?

Do they pretend they're generational? No need to put in more effort defensively or get better at the fundamentals. Just act like a teenager who is too cool to be doing that, too cool to try hard to improve yourself and win.

Matthews, Marner, Nylander all put waaaaay more effort into the team game and helping out their teammates despite significantly out producing Brady and you guys are confused why there is bad culture and how the captain can play into it?

And yet every year we here the best players on the team are not getting it done. So where is this leadership?

Wish we had that problem.

Instead this team can't get it done in November.

Not many.

But what does it say about Brady Tkachuk that he's shooting the puck as much as Matthews?
What does it say about Brady Tkachuk he's not better defensively?

We've gone through multiple coaches, multiple different players in our top 6 and top 4. Multiple goaltenders.

It's the same exact story every year with Brady Tkachuk.

Brady Tkachuk is not built to lead a team to the playoffs. He's not Auston Matthews. He's not Kucherov. He's not Ovechkin.

But he sure seems to shoot the puck and play defense like he's that level of talent. And I better not see another Yzerman comparison who came third in scoring behind Gretzky and Lemieux, made the playoffs and then developed a 2 way game to succeed in the playoffs. That's a better description of what you hope Auston Matthews can do. It's what Ovechkin did.

Toronto is way past the point of simply making the playoffs. Their leadership group has been an utter failure so far.

Again what does that say about Brady?

Also again didn't they change captains? Because they knew who was the guy who setting the real example game in game out?

Are you really ignoring the question marks surrounding the Leafs leadership every year? Seriously???

Crazy, so now the problem with Brady is he isn't Austin Matthews. Yep, people are totally being reasonable.

So how do you propose this team makes the playoffs led by Brady Tkachuk?

He is taking most of the team's shots and they rarely pass the goal line.
He is not a committed two way player who is good on defensive details so we get scored on a lot.
He is not a good passer who creates opportunities for others.

But he's a unicorn I guess. Fitting. Unicorns don't exist and neither does Ottawa Senators playoff hockey while he's been around.

There are some players that are so good that can cheat on occasion and the coach can't say too much because they are so productive and carry the team.

Brady isn't that player, one of our problems is that Brady thinks he's that player and he cheats even more than those players. All to put up what PPG at best? Wack.

Typical of you to ignore the point of their leadership coming under fire every year.

I'm not ignoring, they are 100 point team. And look how hard they work and how much work they still have to do to try and win the cup.

And then realize that Brady thinks he's too good to put up that kind of effort.

You think a team can win a championship with a leader like that?

There are several factors as to why. Pinning it on one player, PARTICULARLY WHEN WE'VE HAD PIERRE f***ING DORION RUNNING THE SHOW FOR YEARS, is beyond insanity. Like, all of your posts should simply read: I hate Brady Tkachuck.

They are team who's leadership gets questioned every year. Every single year.

No one is expecting Brady to score 60 goals nor should they.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect him to play a better two way game, like Matthews does. The Leafs have been plugging in a wide variety of players into their team for the better part of a decade, and they still seem to be playing the same style of game because that's how the core guys are doing it.

Is their leadership in question because of playoff failures? Absolutely, and it should be. But they seem to have figured out the day to day of simple and consistent winning hockey. That's literally the first thing that needs to happen here.

For the record I would also like to see more out of Norris and Batherson too.

Yea they get questioned cuz they choke going up against some of the best teams in the league. Deservedly so.

But we can't question this teams leadership for choking in November against bottom dwellers?

I don't hate him.

We're not about to draft McDavid or some generational talent to come in and have Brady Tkachuk slot in on this roster where he would be additive and part of team success.

Brady Tkachuk needs to go somewhere where he has 2-3 players with exceptional offensive talent or he needs to go somewhere an organization or their leadership can convince him to have a much stronger 2-way game.

We need to move on from him.

This is next level stupid,

He is 15th in the entire league in goals and on pace for 95 pts, and you're complaining he doesn't score enough?
8th in the league in rebounds created, 47th in the league in assists. but not creating enough chances for his linemates.

I get the criticisms of his defensive play, but good lord...

Sens had the worst ownership in the league up until a year ago and people think Brady’s leadership should overcome that. Some of you guys live in an alternate reality.

Bad owners lead to bad management and bad teams. Historically this has been true forever and it will continue to be true.

Sure, questions are allowed, but looking at the Leafs leadership group like its something we should be striving for is ridiculous. Aim a higher man.
