Player Discussion Brady Tkachuk (LW) - Part XI

My point was that in hindsight Alfie was a tireless worker and a strong leader but people didn't have the same opinion of him in 2005 when the team had lost to the Leafs in the playoffs for the 4th time in 5 years. Alfie had his ups and downs with Ottawa and I'm sure he is sharing with BT on what and not what to do.

There were a few idiots who wanted to trade him to Calgary for Craig Conroy, and another group that didn't believe you could win with "soft europeans" But most Sens fans were appreciative of what he brought.

15 minutes into the cgy game. Blows the zone, misses the pass, gets a penalty. Goal against.

All because he blew the zone early.

Just noting this for future reference.

Marginal penalty but keep ranting. But the terrible giveaways tonight by Norris and Giroux that lead directly to goals are OK I guess.

He was cheating for offense and took a penalty that led to us being down 0-1 with a 1-10 record after being scored on first.

We know what Tkachuk is good at. PP standing in the slot or in front of the net and then rush chances... rush chances explaining why he's always cheating for offense.

The problem is he's not as talented as Matthew and he doesn't play the two way game Matthew does either... and this is our captain.

I'm not going to harp on it much but nothing about tonight changed my mind. Until I see a two way game like we are starting to see from Norris or we trade-for/draft another offensively talented forward like Stutzle - Tkachuk just doesn't fit well in this team.

And yet you're silent when he plays great for the rest of the game and scores the game winner. Crickets.

Honestly the worst kind of Sens fan. Again, embarassing behavior.

I also watched him live tonight from the 100s. Guy was involved defensively all game. But crickets. The people need their whipping boy. What a joke.

Have to actually make the playoffs. Showing up for one win when the team is in the basement of the league standings isn't a moment some of these posters should be gloating about.

It goes both ways. Fans who like a player will defend them at any costs. Fans who dislike a player will trash them at any costs. Meeting somewhere in the middle provides a better balance.

Fans will always have biases. Nature of sports. I just find it despicable to label a fan bad for not spending x amount of dollars or not being overly supportive of the team at times and the term whipping boy and scapegoat gets thrown out alot and used as a blanket statement when criticism is presented. Gatekeeping just exudes a persona of talking from a pedestal.

Also the ones who say "you obviously never played hockey before so your opinions don't matter" are absolute donkeys too.

No, the problem here is you're expecting Brady to be Matthew.

The other problem is expecting him to have a complete 180 in his defensive game, but no one wants to wait for Brady to try and figure it out. Just trade him, problem solved.

How many more years of missing the playoffs are you willing to accept for Brady Tkachuk to find his game?

If we fail this year it's 8. And that's a top 25 all time NHL playoff drought.

I'm not expecting anything. You're expecting this massive turnaround in his game and this team despite none of them having proved a god damn f***ing thing in the NHL.

Fair enough. But at a certain point optimism becomes delusion when expectation never turns to reality.

4 years as captain. 4 November meltdowns. Soon to be 4 years of missed playoffs. If this was any other position in the organization outside of owner - a change would have been made. Some of you think it's blasphemous to consider it here which is strange.

So yeah. One shaky win at home against a team that had played the other night. Maybe they can win a whole bunch in a row. Maybe Brady Tkachuk can be as effective as everyone here seems to say despite this team being a basement dweller 4 years under his leadership.

I think everyone would agree they rather a Brady that scores 10 less points but is responsible defensively.

Only thing is to convince Brady of that and it really shouldn't be as hard as it appears to be.

Has the coach changed? Yes
Has the GM changed? Yes
Has the owner changed? Yes
Has the supporting cast changed? Yes
Has the goaltender been changed multiple times? Yes
Have people been added and subtracted to this team's core? Yes.

Has the captain been changed? No

It's inexplicable why we can't seem to make the playoffs. Definitely has nothing to do with our captain. Must be all those other people we've already swapped out several times.

Obviously not the only reason.

But if Alfredsson, Karlsson, Spezza, Stone had a (-) season are you really expecting the team to make the playoffs?

No. Your top line got outscored, season is done.

It's no different for Brady, as long as he is a minus player we shouldn't expect playoffs.

Uh, I was giving him props in the GDT for his good play? I'm happy he got the GWG. Good for him.

As for your what your opinion of me as a fan is? LOL. Acting like calling me the worst kind of sens fan is going to hurt my feelings, or that your opinion matters to me or something. Unreal behavior.
