He recently traded a 1st and prospects for a 3rd line centre that isn’t any better than what we already have. He also offered Marner another ridiculous contract this season that he thankfully declined. I think he was doing decent before any of this. I’d say he’s not doing terrible so far. But definitely room for improvement.

When you have no prospects and no first rounders for 3 years there is no room for improvement as Marner walks for free. Also Ottawa and Montreal have built properly and will now overtake them. The Leafs have painted themselves into a bad corner unless they make some very good free agent signings. Even that won't matter if they don't address the reffing. Tre inherited a mess but he hasn't made it any better. That Laughton trade will turn into one horrible trade. I still don't see the direction and think Tre is firing shots into the dark, praying.

They got blown the f*** out 6-1 in games 5 and 7. Games were nowhere near close

We scored 4 goals in last 4 games with the offense dying under berube just as it did with Keefe.

The team wasn't close to beating FLO. They choked game 3 and then just gave up and got manhandled the rest of the series.

CAR can suck but we blew it bad and got blown out of the playoffs.

Next year who knows how the rest of the EC improves. We wont be the clear cut 2nd best team in the east next year.

Healthy Devils team with possibly Quinn Hughes added. , Rangers looking to bounce back to contenders and being aggresive in the summer, as lower playoff teams looking to take steps (MTL, OTT + the fringe playoff teams in CBJ, DET, BUF)

This core/team had their best chance at winning a cup this year. The blew it and got embarrassed out of the playoffs.

The Panthers team is looking to be a dynasty. They will contend for another 3-5 years

If you are setting your targets against any other legitimate organization the two years have been subpar at best.

Avs last 3 years have lost R1, R2, R1 and they are viewed as heavy chokers and failures these 3 years.

We need to compete and compare against the elite teams of the NHL, not being marginally better than the failure of Lou + Dubas era.

The minimum we need for next year is a ECF appearance. R1 or R2 loss would be another failure

I’d want active players, prospects and even picks.

I would test Marner’s and Matthews desire to play together and look trading them both. From 5000 feet, San Jose seems like a possibility and is worth exploring.

I wouldn't blow this team up, look at these playoffs, Florida eliinated Tampa in 5, and look to sweep Carolina, the Leafs are the only team so far that have given Florida any trouble and it took them 7 games to eliminate the Leafs. I would agree with your last line, and if you watched the press conference I think Pelley does too.
