Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

Panthers are set up to a dangerous team for a long time considering they got 7 players locked up before the big salary cap increase until 2030-2033. Except Bennett and Ekblad. If they lock them in at decent contracts like theh did Reinhart then the East is in big trouble for the forseeable future.

They have:
Barkov at 10 till 2030
Tkatchuk at 9.5 till 2030
Verhaeghe at 7.5 till 2033
Reinhart at 8.625 till 2033
Jones at 7 till 2030
Lundell at 5 till 2030
Forsling at 5.5 till 2036
53 million

If Marner took the reported 13.5 deal, we would look like this going forward.

Marner 13.5
Nylander 11.5
Matthews 13.25
Reilly at 7.5

45.75 million for our 4 players vs 53 million for their 7 players?

Comparably:
Tkatchuk
Reinhart
Barkov
Jones
35.125 million

So 10.625 million more for Panthers right off the top. Thats an elite forward.

No question our design, cap allotment and player selection have been a total disaster for 7 years now

We can't compete with that. MM is too soft and JT getting too old. JT would have to come in at 5.75m or something (half price)

I no longer agree. The Leafs have no prospects and no picks for 3 years. Tre did future damage to an old post prime team. There is no way Laughton is worth what they paid. I'm sorry, I'm firing Tre. He has no record of success. Anyone can dump all their picks and prospects to win one round. Like Dumbass, he lacks foresight. The players he picked up made no difference. Grade D.

Jones with retention for however many years cost about the same as what Tre paid for Carlo
Yep but because Marners outrageous contract..we couldnt afford 7 million per year. And we needed a top 4 rh Dman that we could afford....Carlo from a rival east team was all that was available. For years his contract has made us deplete our assets... paying big assets for retention or to dump contracts.

Reaves + Kampf + Haakinpaa gets you like 3/4 of the way to 7m

Haakinpa...or however its spelled was on LTR all year. And when you have no cap space but desperately need talent, then you need to do desperate things, like trying to find diamonds in the rough with reclamation projects.

Reaves was brought in to compensate for the baby softness of the core 4, and to also provide the voice in the locker room. Like Spezza, Thornton, Foligno etc in the past. If the core 4 wasnt a bunch of silent soft pu$%es, then we wouldnt have got him. Marner is by far the weakest kn all categories of leadership, ultra soft, ultra weak minded, bad with media, absolutely no grit...etc etc.

Kampf is overpaid but not enormously.

No team is gonna have 20 perfect contracts and then just minimum contracts for call ups or in the press box.

Great job Brad.

You won two more games than your predecessor. So I guess that makes you a better GM than Dubas. Even if it is only by the smallest of increments.

You still lost in the same round to the same team though.

By far and away your greatest accomplishment was bringing in Stolarz. Goaltending was the single biggest improvement this year. It's no surprise once the goaltending went down so did the rest of the team.

Stolarz was the MVP and you get all the credit for finding him.

Everything else was bad to mediocre. The horrible Laughton trade, failing to acquire Rantanen, losing Marner to free agency (when, not if, it happens) are among some of the biggest offenses. Outside Stolarz your only other notable accomplishment is an overrated Tanev who likely only regresses from here.

Keep up the good work and you'll be passing JFJ on the list of greatest Leafs GM's of all time next.

No it Didn't Florida gave up a potential stud goaltender and a 1st.

Toronto gave up a future 3rd or 4th line center and a 1st.

Minten is not going to be a top 6 center for Boston and if he is Boston is in A LOT of trouble.

The packages are not even close.

Well based on what was said at the press conference it's officially Brad's team.

And by that I mean the people above him are going to be hands off which we know Shanny wasn't.

If Pelley is telling the truth and he's not going to get involved unless asked then starting today it's on Treliving now.

Alright Brad let's see if you can continue to prove me right.

Send Pelley your resume. I'm sure he'll fire Tre and hire you the instant he reads it.
