Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

Interesting comment in the Johnston "atomic bomb" thread. He said Tre was told when he was hired the core 4 had already been told they weren't being moved. So much for that criticism.
All on Shanahan in losing Marner for nothing...clown is living in the past referencing his days as a Red Wing...he does know there's a salary cap now, right?

That's what CJ said, he was told they were staying when he took the job.
First of all, "they" means Marner because the rest had NMC's, correct?

Second - did CJ say what Tre thought himself? If he had no desire to move Marner anyway then it's on him. And if he did want to move Marner but was told he couldn't, then he didn't have to take the job but he did anyway so again, it's on him.

Of course he knows. Remember that big speech he made years ago when he said the we need to find players who aren't greedy and are willing to take less money to play in Toronto?

Said it before and I'll say it again I do not believe teams ever run out of tradeable assets, I've watched this sport for to long and seen to many trades.

I've seem Jagr, Thornton, Marc Savard, Alex Kovalev and Iliya Kovalchuk all basically gift wraped just to name a few.

In fact Jagr was gift wraped twice.

If It's true that Minnesota doesn't even want him, you can't convince me that Treliving doesn't have the assets to acquire Rossi for example.

Seriously I don't get why Minnesota is even considering this.

I would love the team to get Rossi, but don't see the incentive from the Wild. Cowan + Danford would maybe get their attention, but they likely want an asset to help them win now, and prospects don't do that for them. And the Leafs only really have Woll that's moveable, and they don't need goaltending.

We can hope a core player falls into the teams lap via other means like a reclamation project scenario - I'll never say never, but you also can't bank on that happening

That's really perplexing that if this is what Shanahan believed, that he would then allow Dubas to issue those overpayments.

They tried trading him for Rantanen at the deadline. Marner said no. They tried.
It's already too late with Marner's NMC having kicked in...they should have traded him after the Montreal series or 2 years ago after the loss to Florida.

Three out of the four remaining teams (Oilers are the only ones) dont even have a 90 point player. There are other ways to build a cup contender.

Dude,

Mikko Rantanen is 90pt player every other year
Matthew Tkachuk is a 90pt player every other year

That's pretty indisputable.

Aleksander Barkov has hit 90pts before
Jason Robertson has hit 90pts before
Sam Reinhart has hit 90pts before

It's not wild to imagine any of them doing it again, nor their teams leaning on them like 90pt players

Sebastian Aho (89pts) could conceivably be a 90pt player
Wyatt Johnston could one day be a 90pt player

No point pretending the other 3 teams are made up of utility players with no stars.

But Dubas has been doing a great job tanking the Pens. He's truly horrible Shanahan or no Shanahan. He needs no help.

He was trending on Twitter yesterday and some Pens fans were literally worshiping him, just like some delusional fans do here.

True, but I don’t think it's fair to blame Tre for not trading him at that time.
I'm blaming Shanahan for that. He actually told Tre when he hired him that he went to the core 4 and told them they won't be touched. Shanahan is an idiot.

Dubas told Willie he wouldn't be traded so long as he (Dubas) was with the team and Shanny told the four of them that they wouldn't be moved. Brilliant idea you assholes.

I think you misunderstood. Maybe I was too obtuse.

Posters complaining about Tre not trading Marner, and then there is the comment "he should have been traded after the Montreal series". I meant we shouldn't blame Tre for not trading him after the Montreal series.
