Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

I suspect the cult of Kyle Dubas and cowardly Keefe will now come in here and try to act like they were right, in fact the post above this one already proves that.

Problem is even though tonight VERY VERY did not go our way.

They achieved more this year then Dubas and cowardly Keefe ever did.

That means 2 things

#1 means It's working they are on the right track.

#2 it means I'm right and I have been since August 9th 2023.

I mean just because Keefe and Dubas weren't it doesn't mean Brad and Berube is it.

Brad's trade deadline objectively is a totally disaster.

This reads like a loser who is happy with a 2nd round loss and is calling it a win...

They failed again, Dubas failed, and Treliving is failing, this wasn't a win tonight, sorry.

No one is doing victory laps because it sucks to stop watching playoff hockey.

I still think Treliving is a bad GM and Berube is a bad coach, but it sucks they lost.

You Dubasites bent over backwards justifying things when they lost with Keefe and Spreadsheet here.

They're better than Keefe and Spreadsheet ever were and you adore them.

I'm not happy at all they lost but that doesn't mean they aren't on the right track.

This year proves they are.

They have to keep that going but as of now they are on the right track

Cool, they are failures like Dubas who also failed.

You sound like a child.

It most certainly does not mean they are on the right track, it is another early loss.

Not even close.

Their last 2 home games they got blown out by a combined 12-2. They completely no showed in two games this series and let a 2-goal lead disappear in game 3, and almost a 3-goal lead in game 1.

If not for the Pacioretty goal in game 6 vs. Ottawa they were in real danger of blowing a 3-0 series lead to a team with almost no playoff experience and a goalie with a worse playoff history than Hellebuyck.

Stars were almost completely invisible over the last 4 games of the series combining for one goal. One.

The PP after a solid start against a shell-shocked Ottawa team completely fell apart yet again.

This is the same team.
The same, no better in any way.

They made no progress outside of winning the division (lot of good that home ice advantage did!). The only thing they did do was find an even more humiliating way to choke away yet another series.

A seven game series defeat in Round 2 is a better fate than any they've been able to muster in a long while. Not a "great" job, although certainly an unfinished one that should at least permit him additional kicks at the can.

I said it this time last year, that Treliving's tenure will start to be defined this offseason. In particular, what he does with Marner. Whether it be re-signing him, or redistributing his money elsewhere.

Looks like it's going to be the latter, so we'll see what he cooks up. This team needs a major shakeup, and he already has one built-in for him easily.

He's used over 50% of the Cap... it's got to be close to 2/3 now, not sure how his tenure starts now...

D and goaltending shored up. A better coach. The bottom six is no worse.

The biggest thing remaining now is the core guys. They're just not it. Either it's Marner and/or Tavares, or they allot that money for someone(s) else and inject a new culture and direction going forward.

Well, goaltending and goals against were terrible this year, so not sure that is true.

They still lacked scoring from everyone, which is also always a problem.

This was my favourite iteration of the team, most likely to win with this D and coach, depth. Trouble is the core. Sad.

They had the best season they have had in 23 years.

Changes NEED to ba made specifically up front nobody is denying that.

But Berube has them playing the right way

Treliving has the defense set.

They are on the right track

1. The defense is not set. Morgan Rielly has a albatross deal that will cost us to trade potentially. We are relying on defense which is not good enough vs elite teams. McCabe, OEL, Carlo, Tanev is a good 2nd round defense but it can't be a defense for a final 4 team. We are missing a top 10-15 #1D and have no assets to acquire such a player if one was available. Big risks of decline to Tanev and McCabe as they age with Tanev entering his 36 year old season next year.

2. There is no offensive core on this team. The best players all dwindle away and produce next to nothing in tight checking games. The core 4 guys suck and even if you get rid of 16 and 34 the chances of getting 3 of Bennett, boesor, Ehlers, Granlund to come here to replace them isn't high. You most likely get mid tier UFAs to 1-2 year deals and pray 97 comes to save us in 2026 which is super unrealistic.

3. We have no future assets of value outside of Cowan worth a decent 2st and Danford worth a 2nd after a bad D+1 year. Expect no future additions of note at the TDL for next few years as we lack assets big time.

4. We have a super injury prone goalie in stolarz. Even if you deal Woll and run a tandem, Stolarz isn't a guy you can rely on to be healthy and consistently good.

The team had a better season than any under dubas + Keefe sure, but it was built to win now and came not even 50% of the way there. The team is a joke and Is poised to be a 1st/2nd round exit team next year.

We will be rebuilding by 2028 when our 1st rounders are back

Speaking as a neutral fan, the Leafs were clearly better in 22 and 23 than this year. More points and the East was noticeably weak this season. They used to have a scary offensive gear, the kind you see from Edmonton or Florida now. They are not scary to play against now.

Guess it was too much to ask this core put up monster numbers in a single playoff to make up any issues with goaltending, defence, Carlton the Bear having the flu, whatever. Just one year.

But alas they never could.
