Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

There is a lot of celebrating on this board about going deep and how we are built for playoffs now, so clearly the answer to this is Florida should be a guaranteed win, right?
Your issue is you try and draw conclusions from data vs actually using common sense. You look for numbers to justify your position vs actually being objective about what is happening on the ice.

How about you let the team play the games and see how they respond to a bigger challenge?

We have a cup winning coach who knows how to get the most out of this team. I am truly sorry that dubas and co broke you, but things are ok now man.

Embrace the new identity. It’s here to stay.

One thing I really like about Brad, is he doesn't seem to be very interested in fancy stats. He understands when it comes to the playoffs, they are completely meaningless (can argue the same for the regular season).

So without being biased towards the numbers, he's able to pick up Benoit for free, while the rest of the NHL are still crunching the numbers.
And what are Ottawa fans saying?

"Were the better team at even strength! We're out-chancing them! They're beating us on special teams only. The luck just isn't going our way, goaltending is the difference."

Why does this all sound familiar???

No one thought that, he was a #4 and played well in that role for a couple of years with Muzzin.
No he didn't, he sucked.
Thinking Benoit is not good (he's had a good series) is not unique to me, lots of people think that.
Evidence please. Oh and you should really slow down on the logical fallacies- Bandwagon fallacy (or bandwagon appeal) is the main form of the ad populum fallacy and occurs when someone argues that a belief or action is correct because the majority of people support it.
I will call both of them failures, along with Berube and Treliving if they don't do much here, it is not hard.

Treliving might do something just based on finding Stolarz and not breaking up the core (which everyone wanted here).
Citation please.

Brought to you by the man who wanted Reaves in over McMann, what a dumb poster.
Nothing is dumber than wanting Holl over Benoit.

I know I said it for years, get this team a REAL goalie and a REAL coach and watch what happens.

People wanted to say "it's the defense."

No it was the goaltending it was ALWAYS the goaltending

Citation please.

I agree he shouldn't but It's the playoffs and players do play through shit they shouldn't play through.

If I'm honest I fully believe Brady Tkachuk is doing it right now.
Playing with a sore shoulder or knee is one thing, if he's diagnosed with a concussion by the team Doctor I'm pretty sure it's mandated by the NHL he doesn't play until he's out of concussion protocol.

That's not everyone here, that's one post.

I'm not sure how that works.

I do seem to recall Bergeron playing with a punctured lung during one of the Bruins runs to the final, although I can't remember which one but I want to say 2019.

Okay, still not "everyone here". In fact it's not even close. How many members do you think post on this sub forum?
it's obviously an exagerration to say everyone wanted to break up the core but it was clearly a widely held view and more so among the types who most despised Dubas. I do want us all to get along these playoffs.

Every team uses analytics as a tool, no team relys on them to form a complete picture. There's a stat for everything, so anyone can cobble together what they want. We're up 3 zip and these clowns are still undermining.
Their hero failed for years, but somehow those teams were better. What's the point of arguing with people that are clueless about the game. Everyone that follows the team, sentiment around the league from knowledgeable people, feel this is the best iteration of the Leafs. No three page stats lesson from obtuse Dubists matter, I'd rather listen to pros not biased contrarians looking to argue.

Better coach, better D, better team game, better goalie, better suited to less ice, tough playoff hockey. Zero debate. Does it mean we win it all? Nope.

Of course it was an exaggeration which is why I asked for evidence.

How widely held?

If I had to guess I'd say less than 5% of posters who come to this forum, a very small minority.

Nothing personal it's just that that individual has a habit of posting hyperbolic nonsense.

It is funny to me, you could literally go back two years and it's the same posters. There is no real value here, what's the point. Like crows, just shut the window.
The best part, we've assembled a really good defence this year, and yet throw out the "yeah but it's an old defence". Who cares!!! We're in win now mode for the next few years. Why diminish how their playing now for fear of what they will look like 3 years from now? Like I said, these posters have the agenda of criticizing Treliving because their boy Dubas couldn't accomplish what Treliving has i.e. great goaltending, great defence with size, hiring a coach with a system geared towards success in the playoffs.

Yeah. Sure as hell wasn't everyone.

I could be wrong, if you have evidence to the contrary by all means enlighten me. How many posters are here and how many wanted the core 4 broken up?
I suppose it depends on how you look at it.

Is wanting to change one of the four 'breaking up the core'? I think a fair number of people want that, although they don't agree on which one.

I think there are a lot fewer who want to get rid of two or more, which l see as 'breaking up the core'.

Goaltending was an issue, but come playoff time they just couldn’t score.

Even right now, goals have been hard to come by and they have gotten a lot of fortuitous bounces. 3 of the last 5 goals were not even shot into the net.

That being said, they have been able to limit Ottawa and Stolarz has been good. It’s definitely a buy in from the whole team, and their D is just big and effective.

They still are not scoring a lot of goals. The stats are padded by PP for sure. They are scoring enough to win though and that is easier to accomplish when your guys isn't letting a questionable one every night. Just ask Ottawa.

We are not chasing anything. We can stay in our structure and let our guys capitalize on the opportunities we do get. Again, not easy to do when constantly playing form behind or lacking confidence that your guy won't let a softy in soon.

It is an agenda. The lack of pragmatism is boring

That doesn't mean what you think it means.
