1st in the Atlantic, on the verge of being 1st in the east and league.
I've heard the Kadri rumours and I don't know how you make the money, but if they could this team would be looking strong
“I have a hard time believing that somewhere down the road the Maple Leafs don’t make a pitch for, or have a conversation about, Nazem Kadri of the Calgary Flames,” Marek said on his show ‘The Sheet’ on DailyFaceoff.
I just don't see how this move makes any sense without retention and salary going back. Kampf? Domi? Why would Calgary do that? How much we would have to pay for those sweeteners?I don't think there is a real rumour, more blue-sky speculation.

Insider Fuels Speculation That Maple Leafs Will Re-Acquire Fan-Favorite Forward
NHL insider Jeff Marek has fueled speculation that the Toronto Maple Leafs will look to re-acquire Nazem Kadri from the Calgary Flames.heavy.com
1993.Leafs have the second best goals against in the entire league. This is exactly what has been missing in Toronto for decades
When can anyone say that the Leafs have had one of the best defensive teams in the league ?
Not ever since 1980 at least - 45 years almost
The roster holesPretty impressive. Better goaltending. Better style of play. Size and skill. What's not to like? Kyle, how's the family?
I understand your point. Is there a team in the NHL without holes? It's a salary cap sport you can't buy your way out. Brad also inherited a team without many top draft picks. Overall I think he's done a solid job.The roster holes
No every team pretty much has them but we still have the the hole at 3c which is the same to start the year and the hole on the baccend that he thought he filled alreadyI understand your point. Jury is still out. 2 regular seasons so far have been pretty much the same as with the previous guy. He needs to get this team over the hump and have a long playoff run. Of course, the previous guy emptied the cupboards with no success to show for it. So Tre is at a disadvantage. He has to figure out a way. So far, he has not done anything special
I think the leafs may not do as much as we thinkI've liked the moves of acquiring Stolarz, OEL, and Lorentz...these players might be able to help us in the playoffs. I like his philosophy of a big defence. I didn't like the signing of Domi or Kampf...too much money and term. I'm not impresssed by the Leafs' forward depth, nor their depth on defence.
I'm also not sold on his choice for coach in Berube. I like his north-south emphasis, stressing going to the net. However, we've seen too many of the same problems we had with Keefe that he hasn't been able to fix i.e. poor PP, average PK, little accountability, lack of scoring when the core 4 are checked closely, too many poor starts to games.
With the Eastern Conference being as wide open as it is, Treliving has the opportunity to prove that he's capable of pushing this team to true contender status by acquiring a #3-4 dman and a good 3rd line centre that can also play 2C. It's not going to be easy with the resources Dubas left him and the NMC's.
Does it seem like Shanahan expects to survive another 1st round loss in the playoffs? I say thats not at all likely and he will be very incentivized to improve the club at the cost of some futures rather than save things for his replacement. The window is shrinking, JT, OEL and Tanev aren't kids and there is at least a mathematical chance they don't re-sign Marner.I think the leafs may not do as much as we think
At some point u just have to make these guys play play off hockey or leave
With a report out there that the leafs might be be worth north of 3.5 billion and ted rogers taking over ,who knows
No one wants to be the guy who pelley has to can to keep their jobs
The leafs just dont have very many trade chips
Minten would be playing for the leafs if he was ready or blue chip
And that is the absolute crux of the situation. This was someone I've been saying right from when Kyle started being Kyle. We don't have many trade chips. With the stars and scrubs model we've created, you are left with very few trade chips, unless you start using your draft picks which Kyle did in spades. That has its own ramifications.I think the leafs may not do as much as we think
