GDT: Brad Treliving End of Season Presser Thursday @ 10am

"right there" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, changes are needed because the core can't get it done and the supporting cast's aren't the problem..........
I also don’t feel like they were that close. They took FLA to game 7 in large part because a shaky Bobrovsky spotted them two wins out of the gate. That series should be viewed as a choke job losing 4 of 5 after going up two games. The PP (again) was MIA. And the game 5 and 7 losses should be concerning to the organization.

When a seven game sample size is too big.

I truly have no idea how people are still saying we were "right there" even with the core's ridiculously well earned reputation of disappearing late int he series.

Wow, are you confused.

Wanted Keefe gone years ago.

Dubas whatever, not sure they've had a star GM for decades, certainly wasn't Burke.

Having a Star GM can be problematic in and of itself. You kind of want a great organization builder but it doesn’t always need to be high profile wheeling and dealing. Great GM’s like Doug Armstrong and Jim Nill are guys who kind of work in the shadows, build up a healthy program and can take a swing every once in a while but have very long runways.

Because he is.

A man doesn't talk about respect in the handshake line.

A coward does that, that was the most pathetic thing I've ever heard a coach say in any sport.

A man doesn't call out his players and then backdown the next day.

A coward does that and he did it every single time.

A man doesn't allow himself to be consistently out performed at his job and make NO EFFORT to fix it.

Sheldon Keefe has done that in almost every playoff series he's in.

A man doesn't try to be a fake tough guy

Sheldon Keefe does that with the refs and players all the time.

I don't respect him as a coach I think he's carried by elite talent.

And I don't respect him as a man.

This seems like that all too popular motif: act like the dictionary doesn't exist but that you've come up with this great idea of deciding once and for all what words mean so that there's no more confusion.

Example: Real Leaf fans don't boo the team.
Explanation: 'Leaf fan' literally means the Maple Leafs are your favourite hockey team. There are no behavioural qualifications whatever.

Hopefully no soft useless questions come from the media, I'd like for them to ask legitimate hockey questions,.. not like "What does mitch marner mean to the team" and those other useless questions.

Ask how they plan on delivering a championship and building the team to contention with lack of draft capital etc.

I consider them stars. I don't mean "Look at me! Look at me!" Burkish people, I mean stars based on results.

I also would like some tougher questions directed at Tree

This isn't because I dislike him or think he's done a bad job, it's just that the soft/easy questions don't give us any answers to anything although I suspect Tree is smart enough to side step anything anyway.

What would demanding results change?

It might not change anything, but the vast majority of us agree that one or all of Shanahan, Dubas, and Keefe, as well as the core 4/5 have been given way too long a leash.

Do we want to see that happen again with Treliving or Berube? If they fail to win and/or make any meaningful improvement (beyond round 2 for example,) they should be shipped out much sooner than the previous trio imo.

I want to know the difference between him and Shanahan, his thoughts on the salary distribution, leadership on the team, and the amount of trade protection on the team. Also I want to know why they didn't put the German on LTIR so they could improve the team. Lastly I want to see him swing a hammer.

I want to get those ones in the commercials during hockey games.

Not because I pee myself. Though I might start if I was wearing those. But because it makes your package look huge under a pair of pants.

If women can wear padded bras I can wear padded underwesr.

The old two tenis balls and rolled up magazine trick not good enough for you?! Lol

Not sure that constant change is the right approach either but the 'demanding results' part isn't really necessary, it goes without saying.
They all want to win, they won't decide to because it's demanded of them.

I'm guessing Treliving is going to be fairly open here and let the media know what's going to happen with Marner and Tavares.

I think Tavares signs.

I think Marner he says ... we'll try but it's his right to test the market... which means he's gone. Just my guess.

Time to try something different. I'm not sure how they looks exactly but this isn't it.

Goaltending and defence I'm way less concerned about. You have to look at a Mo trade if doable for a reasonable sum. Probably not happening and I love Mo but Leafs could potentially sign other guys who could fill the role with a better point shot.

Would be a first. Unless it is mandated by Keith Pelley

Really thought they thought the moves they made at trade deadline would move them up a series or two. It didn't because those moves except Tanev didn't help. Who knows who'll they want to resign but they'll all be a year older. Management can say what they want but it is the core and core alone responsible for the failures For them not to acknowledge that is a disservice, not only to the fans but to the team as well. If they maintain the status quo at the top, we can all expect the same miserable result.

Well... this should be.... fun???

Expecting an absolute yawnfest, but hoping to be pleasantly surprised with either some new insights, or decisions / direction.

I dunno.. call me a dreamer
