Brad Richards

Richards made a drop pass against the boards in the Toronto zone last night that might've been one of the top 10 worst plays I've ever seen. It went directly to a Toronto player without a Ranger within about 30 feet of the puck.

Not going to lie, I laughed when that happened. It was so typical this season Brad Richards, I should have seen it coming. Toronto sure did.

Yeah I don't know what's up with him... it's like he lost all of his hockey IQ over the summer.

What's worse is that he's made about a dozen of those passes this season. He looks completely out of it.

Richards probably got himself into too much comfort over the summer with that $12 mil. He was the last guy I'd expect that from but it is what it is. Another joke of a UFA.

I don't hate Richards as much as some of you guys do. But that blind drop pass was pathetic, I facepalmed so hard I may have gotten a concussion. There is no timetable for my return

Ehh, I think its more of a result of the lockout.

36 holes a day is easier than keeping in game shape from May-January without playing much hockey at all.

Richards has not been a good fit for us. He's not really developed any chemistry with any of our wingers whether Gaborik, Callahan, Nash, Hagelin or whoever and he's made a number of really ill advised plays--particularly this year. A lot of these are soft plays IMO--like he's trying to avoid getting hit instead of eating the play he tries to force something to happen. He came to the Rangers with the rep of being a 1st line center--a gamer who was at his best at the most critical times, as a forward who could run a pwp from the point. He's not been any of those things for us. He's kind of like the Messier we got back from Vancouver.

No doubt in my mind that Stepan is our top center.

If that's the case, I'd still be concerned with the fact that we're nearly done with the regular season and he still isn't in game shape.

Very much so. Its why I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first month of the season or so. The fact hes still off is one of the bigger concerns on the team for me.

If he was bought out this year, would the Rangers be able to resign him for cheaper or is that against the new CBA?

I still think he's going to rebound at some point, whether it's the playoffs or next season.

I also think there's no way he's a Ranger at the start of the 2014 season.

I think we keep him for next year and he plays better but him playing better is like saying the sh** I take tonight will smell better than the one I took last night. Either way I predict hes still sh**. Ok I'm being a smart ass but I doe xpect him to be at least a decent top 6 guy again next year possibly for the last time in his career

Don't worry, we'll get an update about you the next time one of the Staal brothers does an interview.

Cue the "But we didn't have a training camp!" crowd. I'd have thought half a season of playing hockey would double as a form of training. Not just for Richie either, for the entire team.

Ya know what I wonder? I wonder if players are shouting out to each other. Do they have any kind of aural communication going on?
I have no idea, but I am sure people who attend the games might know.

I saw many situations last night where there was an unguarded Rangers player trailing his puck-carrying teammate. Yet, no clever drop pass. Makes me wonder about communication.
I could be all wet, but when I watch it, I scratch my head as to why it almost never happens the puck is simply gently dropped and the guy behing steps into a shot at full flight.

Carp just called out Richards in his chat.

Paraphrasing:

"Richards has been kidnapped by a some small, weak, unmotivated person."

"Gomez, Drury and Holik" were all better players for the Rangers.

About sums it all up. The Rangers were counting on him and Richards has let the whole organization down....along with the fans of course.

And he literally could not be more spot on.

He doesn't even get enough flack.
