Trading Marchand would be tricky since he likely wants to be a start to finish Bruins and is only chasing a Cup here

he’s signing an extension here it’s just would he be willing to go play 5+ weeks somewhere else
Truth be told it don't matter what he thinks if Sweeney wants to trade him. That said it's a respect thing to ask him he has earned that right.I am fine either way but still smart enough to know he is their best trrade chip..

1 year at a time if we are bringing him back.
Yeah, that's a great deal if you're Boston. I just don't see the player agreeing to that, especially with a club that's a bubble team, at best. He'll get better offers elsewhere.

This is his last contract and his Cup Window is very, very small. I get that he loves Boston, but that's only gonna carry you so far.....He's also earned the right to be a little bit selfish.

Well a guy who took less to stay in prime yrs does not strike me as type to ask that at his age.Anyhow,we will know soon.
I don't really think he "took less" - He got market value and then became a bargain contract. Essentially he got what he was worth, then exceeded it with his play.

That is fair enough Sheppy but there is no way he asking what Bruin4 suggested .Be interested to see how this pan's out.He will be 37 .

They have Poitras & Lohrei who several of those draft groups said would never make it

Both will eventually be plus NHL regulars
There is some doubt, just how good they will be, Loheri, I think he could have a good career, but could be just a decent 10 year career type.

God bless Marchy. Local news was doing a bit on the 4 nations and how it is a replacement for the All Star game and how players are pumped for it.

Marchy says “those All Star games are horrible to watch”.:laugh::laugh:

I have mixed feelings about Marchy. His irresponsible line changes, high number of turnovers, and brutal shenanigans bug me from time to time.
However, he is very loyal, smart, competitive and one of the best players this franchise has ever had.

By rights, without sentimentality, he should be traded. But there is something to be said for continuity and a competitive attitude remaining too.

Just guessing but I don't think he has asked out. Still, if we trade him I think it is very unlikely he returns.

Unsentimental hardcase me is actually leaning toward keeping him. My mind and gut are saying he will be traded. Make what you will of that.

IF Sweeney asked, would Brad say no to 2-3 months of hockey and certain playoffs being on a line with the likes of Leon or Connor or Nathan? I doubt he says no if he likes the chances to add to his resume and mystique with another Stanley cup .... he is still a difference maker and teams know it ...and so does Brad...he's only got a few years left, he's not passing up a golden opportunity to be at the top again if offered. If it's the right circumstance, Brad is gone....just cant be to Toronto or I'll die
