I imagine if it becomes clear they will miss the playoffs then they will ask him what he wants to do.TB was a different situation. They did not want to pay Stamkos what was asked by his camp.
And if he says he wants to stay, looking for 3 yrs at 7 mi per

Or if he says he wants to the end of
the season to think it over

What do U do ?

Sweeney probably gives it to him.You are talking about a Bruins legend here, who has given everything his body can give to this organization.

Full rebuild ? Good to know you will be around in 15 years

I want Brad on 25-26 Bruins going forward

I want him playing for Colorado or Vegas this spring and the Bruins getting draft picks for it
This would be most logical thing to do but I am not sure it happens. See how things shape up as deadline looms closer.Mackinnon and him both from Halifax might help it along.

I don’t think he would go that long, term wise. Maybe compromise on a 2 year
deal.

Should be interesting none the least, hell for all we know Brad just might want to check out the open market and then decide. If so then Sweeney must move him, imo.

It also depends on the offers that come in, as I’m sure he’ll be receiving them.

Avs 2025 1st

And Frederic in a package for Zegras, now Bs could get more speed and skills...

I appreciate everything Brad has done as a Bruin. He’s the only link to the ‘11 team. However, if trading him improves the team even a particle you move him and don’t look back. I don’t even care if they trade him and don’t attempt to resign him as a UFA. Take the best offer for Marchand and name Kastelic captain seeing as he’s the only guy who’s had a pulse every game.
The team has paid Brad Marchand many millions over the years and at this point owe him nothing other than #63 being retired in his honor. Have him come back in three years for a ceremony, everyone clap, raise his number and done.

That would be nice deal for Marchand.
Avs don't have a 2025 1st. Neither does Vegas, or Edmonton.

A 2026 1st is probably more valuable, it's a deeper draft, but you're pushing the impact of that player further down the line (and into Pasta's 30's).

That said, I don't think you could get Ritchie AND a 1st. That would be like getting two 1st's for a rental... and Ritchie is probably worth more than a 1st by himself. Not that I think he's a superstar, but he's not a lottery ticket either. He's developed every year, he was the #1C on Team Canada, and probably ready to play in the NHL next year (though I'll leave that determination to people who watch him every day).

I’m with you. Thats if the Bruins are out of it. Deal Marchy he’s your biggest chip to start a re-tool.

Bruins make the right moves in moving guys out, acquiring near NHL ready prospects and creating cap space, the rewards from the re-tool could should show dividends as early as next year.

What would qualify as the Bruins being "out of it" in your mind? They're going to be a bubble team, right up through the deadline. If the current standings remain relatively the same for the next 3 weeks, is that "out of it" or not?

Personally, I don't think it matters. I'm shopping Marchand regardless. Absolutely CANNOT lose him for nothing, and anyone who expects him to give Boston some kind of sweetheart short term extension at below market money, is fooling themselves. If he gives anyone a deal, it'll be to play on a Cup Contender.

Yeah, Bergy, Krejci and Marchand all signed favorable deals before, but that's because the team at the time was a contender, and they wanted to win a cup. This team isn't.

Great question, I guess my wording as being “out of it”, would be when and if Sweeney/ Neely decides they are, because yea mathematically they could be in it right up to the final few games.

If it was me I’d be selling and would have already sent out messages to all teams trying to get in or are in the playoffs.

Because I don’t see the Bruins making it. Columbus and Ottawa are looking very strong as is Detroit and I don’t see Tampa not being in the playoffs and although the Rangers looked liked crap yesterday, I wouldn’t count them out and the Islanders have been hot and they have Soroken but I’d be shocked if they squeezed in.

So I guess being out of it is When Sweeney determines their out of it, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he makes a move to better their odds of making it.They win 2 of their next 3 I can see him doing exactly that, they lose all three I think he then would declare the Bruins as being out of it.

Gotta love his ribbing of Pasta during the interview yesterday after the game. At the 8 second mark he says jokingly "I hate you". It was nice to see Pasta laugh. Never a boring moment with him around.

O I don't doubt you are correct here. I
was just saying it would be nice deal that he posted for Marchand.
