Brad Marchand traded to Florida, Brandon Carlo to Toronto

Marchand sets up Bennett for the winner. It simply had to be that way. ;)

I've seen a lot of back and forth on this situation, but I think there's a middle ground: Sweeney moving on from Marchand might ultimately be the right choice, but he also handled the negotiation before deadline very poorly.

Marchand's contract demands didn't appear out of nowhere. The Bruins being a non-contender this year didn't appear out of nowhere. They needed to read the room earlier -- I think it's clear they were holding onto playoff hopes far too late, and they needed Marchand to get there at all.

But here we are now, getting a better return for Trent Frederic's 15 points than we did for our team captain.

I don't want to hear the "forced trade to Florida" excuse -- Giroux did the same thing three years ago, and the price was still a 1st + Owen Tippett.

This was clearly a rushed decision, and they paid the price for it.
Maybe Brad lead them to believe he would sign the deal the Bruins offered and the last minute he reneged?

Either way it is what it is at this point. Im not a fan of DS but he killed it at the deadline. I will be a blast when Trent Frederic re-signs in the off season.

Marchands ask, was a middle finger to the Bruins, after the Lindholm, Swayman, signings.

Why stop there if you think that's true? He's a busted up soon to be what 38 yo?

He over played his hand and now he's in Florida. Looks like he's enjoying himself so good for him and good for us for moving on.

Glad we wiped the slate clean and rid ourselves of the players we did. Now get rid of Swayman and the job is complete.

My guess is that will happen at the draft.

After the season he's had, what makes you think another team wants to take on Jeremy Swayman's contract?

Bruins would likely be better off hoping that this season was a fluke and he bounces back next year.

I was not defending Marchand, I think it was a needed move, he will be 37 in May, multiple surgeries, I am not against them moving him at all, I think Sweeney should have had that mentality in the past, and he might have avoided this wholesale change to this team and might not recover from. Swayman, should be a must move in about two weeks, move on from him immediately.

Not sure what it will take but some GM will always be there to do the unthinkable.

He's damaged goods in Boston, Hard kid to root for at this point.

Went to the Panther-Habs game yesterday. No way is Marchand signing with a team that plays him a little over 15mins TOI a game. Needs more ice time than that.

Definitely weird seeing Marchand in a Vamos Gatos uniform. Played well and was engaged moving the puck. Favorite part was Brad jawed with Gallagher all game.
Brad's best days are behind him, 15 mins on that team sounds about right for what he is now.

When you have a deep team, that's the TOI he should be getting, imo.

Or does that setup for Marchand to increase is longevity to make it 40yr old. That's his goal and playing less minutes a night means less wear and tear.

Marchand is still a solid second line player and leader

Boston has no one on second line better than him

Im paying $150 a ticket I want Marchand over Letteri or whoever on second line

He did not suck folks

I hope my TWO sources are correct (daughter is one - but women talk)
