Marchand is not a very good player anymore, the last few playoffs he has come up woefully short for Boston, and Brad Marchand has once in his career scored more goals in the playoffs than Nuke put up last year in 7 games and it took Marchand 23 games. Haha as I said this trade makes no sense for the Avs, maybe Nuke for Pasta.
Nuke is fairly untouchable for me. How he goes is how the avs go

Don't be dense. A trade from 17 years ago holds no bearing to a trade from today. The market is far different. His argument is a much different one.

It doesn't seem like the fans of many top contenders have interest in Marchand at the price being floated. Historical precedent isn't kind either so looks like an uphill battle for Bs fans here.

You want Marchy a hall of Famer who knows finals and cup . Pay up.

What if the thread was started by a Bruins fan who was dreaming when they though he was worth Nuke, and the Avs don't actually want him? Seems to me like the Avs have their own guys who won the Cup pretty recently, and don't need to rely on Marchand's memory of what happened when he was a rookie.

But… we don’t?

This thread was made by a Bruins fan.

Avs fans in the thread are all saying we don’t really want him, but sure we will take him if he comes cheap.

Then we hear Bruins fans tell us we need to pony up or watch him go elsewhere.

Cool, he can go elsewhere.

Are we done?

I never said it had to be 1 of 1, I said a trade involving those two players.

Maybe not, but you seem to be saying that Marchand would be the main piece coming back, which would suggest the Bruins would be adding lesser pieces to him that wouldn't move the needle at all, and there's still no point for the Avs to even answer the phone.

This literally has zero impact on the fact he's still the best player in this deal.

Also, it was a Boston fan who started this thread. LoL.
Of course it does lol. Him being the best player in the deal means nothing if he doesn't play. The risk attached to him severely lowers his value.

You guys got Recchi and a 2nd in exchange for Martins Karsums and Matt Lashoff in 2009, two years before you won the Cup. You could have kept the trade capital and signed him as a UFA and gotten the same result.
It's not like Karsums and Lashoff went on to be all stars.

Marchand has 56 goals in 157 playoff games (0.36 GPG). Nuke has 23 in 72 (0.32 GPG).

Marchand has 138 points in 157 playoff games (0.88 PPG) and 10 points in 11 games last year ( 0.91 PPG). Nuke has 35 points in 72 playoff games (0.49 PPG).

Marchand is a playoff warrior. Nuke's fantastic 2024 doesn't change that.

No chance I add to Marchand to get Nuke. Not a commentary on him as a player. Just too much risk.

It's not like Karsums and Lashoff went on to be all stars.

That's a bit of an understatement. After that trade, Karsums played 18 NHL games. Lashoff played 28. And that's the point. They were a couple of mediocre prospects in their early 20s, which is what I'd be comfortable giving up for Marchand.

That's totally understandable. I don't expect any team to give up enough value for him to make it worth it for the Avs, and his impact on the ice makes it stupid for the Avs to give him away at a discount.
