I wonder how long Lambert sticks around with his callup. The Jets are in a stretch of 15 of their next 19 games being at home. I thought early in the season that the Jets as an organization wanted to see Ville and Brad make the jump together, as they are pretty good friends off the ice, and that was delayed by Heinola's early season injury.

There's not really the roster space when Ehlers gets back, but there could be. Either Gus or Coghlan could be sent for 2 week conditioning stints, as team players. Seems like a good time to see what he can do, especially with so many controlled home matchups. Would put a little more competition and options in the lineup.
As Murat has been hinting at all season, I wonder if the Jets might consider trading Ehlers at some point, especially if Lambert continues to show well in a de facto 3rd line role. I could see the Jets make a couple of moves using Ehlers and futures (prospect and/or picks) to add a C/F for that 2/3 line and a solid top 4 D, especially with the coaches losing confidence in DeMelo.

A player like Nelson would fit well with Perfetti and Lambert or Iafallo if the Jets decide to trade Ehlers.

If the 4th line hadn't been so darned good this year I'd advocate for a soft scoring line of Chibby Kupari and Lambert
Agree. I also think that all 3 of the 4th liners look like they can move up the lineup if needed.

Barron has looked awfully good with Lowry, but he lacks Nino's scoring skill.

Lambert and Ehlers would be interesting with that speed. However, it Ehlers has no intention of signing and is a player that is somewhat injury prone, do we run the risk of losing him for nothing; with the added risk of him not even playing 100 in the playoffs. He hasn't been healthy in the playoffs for a long time

The one I am watching is how effective Ehlers has been on the PP. And the struggles the Jets have had since he's been out. You can win a lot of games with the PP, playoff games too, as Colorado taught us last year. That one makes me apprehensive. Whereas keeping Lambert around in a group of 13 forwards gives some options, as a backup to Namestnikov at C, or a winger like Perfetti if he struggles. Having 13 forwards who can play, at this time of year when there are a lot of bumps and bruises, you can rotate players in and out, make the competition stronger for playing time. And for Lambert he's practicing every day with pros, and playing on a winning team, that might be better than trying to carry the Moose. If the Jets lost Gustafsson on waivers, I'd say they have an equally capable replacement in Anderson-Dolan if he can get back up to game speed.

I see Minnesota and Dallas as favourites to land Nelson with his partial NTC, but neither of those teams have a prospect like Lambert they can bring up, and this may be the season to give the young guys the experience instead of trading the future for a temporary replacement. But there are some merits to trading Ehlers for the future I could see. There's also merits to going the distance with him. That's a tough one.

We'll see how that one plays out.

I think it's hard to replace PKers with PP guys, on a defensive minded team. Arniel seems pretty set in the roles. Maybe you start to see Namestnikov out on the PK more often. He hasn't been a regular since Schmidtty broke his jaw with a shot last year in the playoffs.

I wonder if this is the week for Lambert to prove something, as Ehlers returns to skating this week. Seems like Arny would just go back to his regular lines when Ehlers comes back, but I do wonder if you had Lambert as a depth RWer if there aren't more options, like making Lowry's line more dangerous offensively, or having Pionk, Perfetti and Lambo play the top of the 2nd PP to increase offensive output. Maybe simply getting 4th line minutes if need be, just to get the game action and experience. In Barron's place.

Likely probability is Lambert goes back to the Moose when Ehlers comes back, until the next opportunity. So this week is a big one for him.

Interesting. So Lambert got sent down to the Moose today and Chibrikov comes up.

Though Brad looked pretty good to be honest.
I don't think that the move is anything more than the org using the Ehlers injury as a chance to get both of them a look and some experience in the NHL.

They might have even told Brad that that was the plan all along

Lambert can go back to the Moose with some solid guidance on what to focus on in his time there to be even better at the NHL level next time he's up

Yes, this makes sense actually.

Like scoring on an empty net...

I think taking a penalty in a 1-0 game when you have better legs than most of the team is one that will get the coach's attention for the wrong reasons. IIRC Perfetti and Chibrikov had decent chemistry in preseason, so that would be one to watch. Might get more shots out of Chibrikov too, and that seems to be something Arniel wants where he talks about winning zone time but losing on the shot clock.

Reinhart and Barbov play both PP & PK ... I like speed on the PK. Connor has looked good in the limited time he has been on the PK.
Lambert sent down to the Moose.

My feeling is there's a lack of finish there. All the tools but....
.......definite lack of finish, but entirely repairable. Lambo has quick responses, too quick, on that empty neter it was on full display. He moved so quickly on that puck that he shot before the net was actually open....and it went wide to the passing side. A brain and response issue. It will come to him with more experience and patience. Still a project.

I thought Lambert looked a little lost at the NHL level. Skating hard and fast but always a little behind the play. I think Chibrikov will have more success, his game is more well-rounded. He also adds a bit of edge even though he isn't very big.
He looked good considering he's coming into the 2C position. His retrieval and passing were good. He whiffed on that open net but was really good overall.
Chib being on the wing should be good, he also has great speed. Assuming he's going on the 2nd line?

I think Lambert did just what he needed to do in this callup. Would have been nice if he scored but he showed he has nhl speed and is willing to do the things he needs to to be successful.

He can go back to the Moose and continue to work on his game, and be ready for the next opportunity.

I think Chibby has a more mature game. Let's see how it translates.

I guess they sent him down to work on his empty net skills. He can examine the tapes of Wheeler and Barron...:sarcasm:

Interesting if he had finished on shots would they have been willing to send him back down if he looked exact same, but, had some puck luck.
