He’s earned this last contract and people need to enjoy him while he’s here. Guy gives it all to the team and fans.

I’m guessing it will be bonus based with a respectable cap hit.

Fans are being harsh on Marchand. Decrease expectations to a 2nd line two way winger and all is well (with Marchand).

Difficult to blame him for a lack of offense on the roster.
People need to get off his back. Guy has 2 surgeries and barely trains and is going out there giving it everything he has as he’s working into game shape. Tonight shows that he’s turned that corner.

3 years for a 36 year-old who's had a fair amount of surgery in the last couple of years and a huge mileage on the clock instantly makes me ask, at what price? Can't begrudge Brad anything based on his history and service to the franchise, but end of the day pro-sports is a tough, hard-nosed business and charity should be kept to an absolute minimum.

2 years I'd be more comfortable with. 3 I'm not dead against but I'm asking more questions about the terms. Won't judge until we know what those are.

@Aussie Bruin Sweeney has a mandate from ownership to keep the team competitive and to avoid what happened in Chicago

Indeed, but that would work against giving 3 years wouldn't it? The longer you give a guy who's 35+ you're taking on more risk, no matter who they are. As long as Brad's in the team's best 12 forwards, by all means keep him around. But you don't need to offer 3 years to achieve that.

Swayman, Pastrnak, McAvoy cover 3 of the 4 cornerstones of a top team
G

W goal scorer

C only spot

This season they will get answers who to keep or not and they will have money

They should be good as a floor and better if they play smart

3x3?

I don't mind giving him a deal for past performance but let's be honest his stock is dropping quickly. Lindy took all the money for overpaid second liners. But we of course had no choice and he was the best center UFA.

Tied for 3rd in scoring and 2nd among the top 6.

Despite age, surgeries etc.

The main concern is 35+ contracts stay with the Bruins even if he were to retire unexpectedly. Unless that rule changed.

Yeah but those guys aren't exactly lighting it up. Not sure that's a great point in Brad's favor. I hope he resigns for 2 or 3, and has a reduced role. He is still a good NHL player, but I feel like he needs to play a simpler game these days maximize his strengths.

I think he will not go further than 1 year, hope contact cheap like Bergy, Bruins really need to sign elite UFA as Brad replacement for nexts years.

Curious how long he wants to go. Three years seems like a big commitment. For both sides. I'm not against it... depending on the terms. The 1-year bonus laden deals seem like the most convenient approach. Also don't blame him if he's looking to secure the most guaranteed money.

Have they changed the rule where you develop an allergy to your hockey gear and don’t count against the cap anymore?

If not I’m fine with 3 years too.
