You could be right about the upsets. St Louis I think will win. Habs could sneak up on Washington though I wouldnt put money on it.
Ottawa is the one to watch. This looks like Torontos best team in years but they struggle against Ottawa this year and have all the pressure on their shoulders. I just think in the big picture it wont matter cause whoever wins isnt getting by the winner of Tampa/Florida in the round after. All roads for me lead to Colorado Tampa also.

I just have a strange feeling that Washington might be the team that ran super well all year and then things catch up to them in the playoffs. I was close to picking them because I think Montreal is maybe 1-2 years away from being a team capable of winning a round, but just got a feeling. Montreal has been a tough place to play, if that series goes back there 1-1 that place is going to be electric.

Ottawa is 15-5-3 since March 1st. They were in that logjam of teams fighting for those wildcard spots and really just pulled away. I won't believe in the Leafs until I actually see it (much like the Kings)

Blues vs Avalanche

This will happen ^... prepare accordingly :)
To elaborate:

Kings will enact their revenge on the Oilers and will beat them handedly in 5 games. Oilers aren't the same this year. With Connor and Leon they're always a concern but even those guys are already banged up. Plus Ekholm is a MASSIVE loss for the Oil - Kings will be able to exploit that.

Kings will then play a strong but potentially worn down Vegas team - The Wild are big and physical and a healthy Wild team should be able to push Vegas to 6 or 7 games. Kings will have the edge against Vegas since they'll be riding the high of having just bullied the Oil. Kings also seem to match up pretty well against Vegas.

Then comes the series with the Avs. I'll have to admit, this is a homer pick. On paper, the Avs should absolutely beat the Kings. But on vibes??? There's a chance.

Then the Kings get to the cup final and upset the Lightning to secure their 3rd Stanley Cup in franchise history and everyone starts dancing and partying... Who says no?

If the Kings make it out of the first round, they'll probably be too banged up to do any damage in round 2. You just know Edmonton is going to do everything they can to hurt and injure the Kings. I have absolutely no issue with clean, hard checks (even if it f*cks someone up), but the dirty intent to injure crap is what pisses me off. And if Edmonton is losing, you know they are going to ramp up the dirty play.

Psh - the Oilers couldn't bang us up if they tried

Kings in 5

What the hey; here's how I see Round 1 playing out:

Jets > Blues
Stars > Avalanche
Golden Knights > Wild
Kings > Oilers (worth it IMHO, even if this saves BLuc)

Leafs > Senators
Panthers > Lightning
Canadians > Capitals
Hurricanes > Devils

Blues in 6
Stars in 7
Knights in 6
Kings in 6

Leafs in 7
Panthers in 5
Capitals in 4
Devils in 6

Stars over Blues in 5
Kings over Knights in 7

Panthers over Leafs in 7
Capitals over Devils in 5

Stars over Kings in 5

Capitals over Panthers in 7

Stars win the Stanley Cup over Washington in 6.

Besides the Kings beating the Oilers, the other for sure thing is whomever comes out of the West is winning the SC over the East. Mark...it...down!

If they're not dead

East is looking sketchy this year, the powerhouses are dangerous but a lot of those first round matchups could be fluff..maybe the battle of ontario gets crazy though. The all florida series will be a dandy.

Not so much here in the west, congratulations, your wild card draw is...the Blues, the 2nd hottest team in the league. And these big physical teams are all gonna carve each other up
