The narratives that some people on here create is wild lol.

Don't live in the area anymore and have been to one game in the past couple of years. The merch options are pretty horrific so that is an easy no for me, I got a Tuch goat head a few years back as a gift. I have ESPN+ but watch a lot of hockey and college football.

This team is what it is, Pegula, Adams and Ruff are not trying to lose on purpose or deceive the fanbase.

Who said those guys are loosing on purpose ? Try and not put words in peoples mouths. The first two are just so dumb they don't know anything else. I said players play like crap and pretend they can't learn to get out of here then go on to Cup winners.

I feel sorry for Lindy who has recently said he is out of answers and last night opened his press scrum with Oh My God.

There is 100% a deception going on every time Adams tells you he has every resource available to him and then does nothing, keeps his job, and continues to fail.

Both things can’t be true at once in year 5. Either he is told he can spend what he wants, and chooses the leanest front office and refuses to spend to the cap every year…in which case an owner would fire him.

OR

He’s DECEIVING the fanbase and remains in his position because failure to act, or succeed, is the only resource he has to rely on. As long as he remains here…his actions are sanctioned and approved and meet the standard set. Or he wouldn’t f***ing be here. If Pegula isn’t restricting him…why doesnt he do anything? Retain on trades? Weaponize cap for picks? Sign more Zuckers? Trade his infinite supply of redundant prospects that can’t all play here and whose development is hurt by he number of them needing to play…for upgrades on the roster? Because it adds money. That’s the answer. The question is…if money isn’t the issue…why is his failure tolerated?

That’s the deception.

So, this is the result of them actually trying to win? Imagine if they were trying to tank..that's a scary thought. That it could get worse.

I didn't say anyone was saying that ...that's why there are in different paragraphs.

I was clarifying my stance that, I believe Pegula doesn't have restrictions on the team, Adams isn't sitting on his hands and Ruff is trying adjust on the fly with a group of broken players.

End of the day, most of the blame falls on the players. Everyone on this roster sans 2 or 3 players are NHL level players and can't figure out how to put together 60 mins together.

So, this is the result of them actually trying to win? Imagine if they were trying to tank..that's a scary thought. That it could get worse.

Or really? I never said lose on purpose but I did say deceitful

Pegula - If I need the money I can drill another well!
Also
Pegula - Fire all the staff and save as much money as we can! Lets have the smallest scouting department because I am cheap.

So which one is it?

Adams
I am free to trade for who I want and make roster moves
also
8 million under the cap

I don't want to block any prospects
also
Lets sign 30 4th line players over the last 5 years

How about flying to Montreal and saying the answer is in the room and no roster changes are coming. Then Adams said he was misquoted.

The whole taxes and palm trees and no one wants to play here yet there are 150+ players without clauses in their contracts

Telling us they want to win but the main criteria of being a player here is not winning.

Thats just a taste of what we been fed.

I never said anyone said they were losing on purpose. See above.

The drill a well comment was well over a decade ago and fracking in PA has changed, I think we can all let that go.

He didn't fire all of the staff and has added scouts in recent years. He isn't cheap but like most places that relied on people attending their recreational sports, it took a hit during Covid. I would assume a lot of teams made moves, maybe not as many as Pegula but pretending a global pandemic didn't impact that decision is silly.

It's a mix of both he has money but is probably sick of spending it on players and coaches that are no longer here.

Adams: he is probably free to make any deal that makes the team better.

Also there is this weird correlation going on in here where people think because we have cap, Adams is just sitting on it. They had a deal for Ehlers and had one for Necas, he is for sure willing to spend the money if the player wants to be here.

The blocking prospects is interesting because most have developed nicely but some should have been blocked, it's not a unique problem to Buffalo but one that does seem to repeat itself across all our GM's.

Flying to Montreal is fine, I'm sure he said the answer is in the room. He is smart if he had that leaked as teams around the league were probably holding him over a barrel and saying the answer is here might back a few of the over the barrel trades down to an overpay situation.

The taxes and palm trees thing is factual, it's not unique to small market northern cities. Other sports run into the same issues. With the 150+ players you then have to parse it down to, are they available? Do they fit the window? Do they fit the system? If available, is their acquisition cost in a realm of reality? If it is, will they sign long term here?

There is no doubt they want to win but holy hell, as fans we have to look at this situation from 30k ft and understand the whole situation

Oh wow you want to give a billionaire a free pass. Its refreshing compared to some of the other posters who hold them to higher standards.

Wow fracking in PA has changed so Terry can't afford the scouting staff anymore. I almost shed a tear for the hard times he has fallen on.

Do you know how absurd you sound trying to explain how fracking has changed so he cant afford scouting staff?

So you say its silly to hold it against Pegula's billions for laying off staff because of covid. Well covid is over, did he hire back all those people he canned or is that silly too to hire them back. Its tough being a 7 billionaire.

You are brining up an event from 4 years ago to defend a 7 billionaire. Absurd.

Terry bought the team for 189 million. Its now worth 1.1 billion. If he can't afford to run the team properly then he should sell it but hell no am I giving him a free pass when he is worth almost 8 billion dollars.

Its mindboggling how you bring up fracking in PA like we are suppose to feel sorry for him or somehow that has any bearing at all on how the team should be run when the guy is worth almost 8 billion dollars.

Oh and I left out the part where Terry Pegula is so cheap he didn't even let Lindy Ruff hire his own assistants.

Wonder if the Pegula family has ever watched the Movie Promised Land ? Especially the children. That tells a story about fracking in PA. No wonder they have to go to church.

Also, how much money did Pegula Entertainment loose in their ill fated venture/pipe dream and are the Sabres paying for it ?

I'm not giving him a free pass on anything and nobody is feeling sorry for him. He deserves some criticism on how he has structured his organization but at the end of the day, he owns the team and it's his choice. He made a statement 10 plus years ago flexing about making money and you are fixated on it like it was a personal promise to you.

I am also not correlating fracking to scouts, you did. I noted fracking has changed in the last 10 plus years, so maybe it is time for people to stop using the "I'll just drill another well" line because it's not relevant anymore.

He has hired people in different capacities since the layoffs, so not sure why this is a sticking point for you. I also bring up the pandemic because it was a massive event that is fairly recent and had major impacts on the sport.

What the team is worth and what the team nets each year is wildly different. Without looking it up, I would assume this team is bleeding money.

The last part is the chefs kiss though, I have not been able to find any articles or reports that Pegula/Adams told Ruff he couldn't bring anyone on board. Is it possible, sure, but there is 0 evidence.

End of the day, Terry deserves a little blame for the on-ice product but the execution is on the players.

We have been in the drought for what is likely 14 seasons now and all we do is piss and moan about Terry and <insert the current GM name> and create narratives around them.

It's exhausting enough to be a fan of this team but then coming in here to so much conjecture, it's just not fun anymore.

If you worked as an ambulance driver and never found the way back to the hospital you'd probably resign. Adams would just go to a drive through and enjoy himself with people dying in the back. His worst problem in life would be what sides he'd order.

It's a business. Did the Canadians do something exploitive to get their money? Unlikely, no. Are the Sabres deliberately doing something to give one group of general ticket sales buyers preferential treatment? No. So why should it matter who the Sabres sell tickets to in general?

If the team hadn't bulldozed their own season ticket fanbase, there would be local demand to attend those games and it would reduce number of out of town fans because there would be a smaller availability of tickets. Shredding the season ticket base has consequences, one is that more GA seats are available for every game.
