Plenty of fans have done that and it hasn't mattered. The only thing left.

Only Columbus, San Jose, and Utah have a smaller percentage of fans in attendance at games this season.
And 5 teams are worse in raw attendance numbers: NYI, Anaheim, Winnipeg, SJ, and Utah.

Same it doesn't seem to working tho, they are still the same.I have been for most of the last decade lol
I’d add to that Southern Ontario/Metro Toronto has the largest concentration of NHL fans (Not of the Leafs or Sabres). They can come down for a very inexpensive night of hockey to watch their favorite team/player relative to going to a Leafs game. And none of those other teams get propped up by fans travelling to see the "road team" in the way Buffalo does. It used to just be Bruin and Leaf fans (the B's fans from the old Niagara Falls junior affiliation days were great to talk to). But we see Pens fans drive up, Ranger and Islander fans beyond just the UB contingent fly up. They are getting ticket sales from fans of other teams which artificially props up the attendance figures.
The benefit of being an easily won road gameAnd none of those other teams get propped up by fans travelling to see the "road team" in the way Buffalo does. The other problem here is there is side hustle of season/game tickets being sold on the secondary market to hockey fans from Southern Ontario. I wonder if the league knows about/thinks about that ? Ultimately it helps keep a loser franchise in business for 20 years plus. Things might change with the value of the Looney if it continues dropping but does not seem to be yet.
Yup. My extended family gave up our season tickets five years ago. The last couple seasons, we couldn’t give our tickets away. The demand wasn’t there. In a moment of insanity we split seasons again last season. Same thing, minimal demand in the secondary market. Which sucked because health issues prevented me from being able to attend any games. We got rid of them again. That was more a problem when they were competitive. Now? Too many empty seats to get the same value.

If Pegula moves the team then there is nothing you can do about it.The issue with a boycott, is that the Sabres will relocate. Maybe it’s Pegula’s goal to maximize his investment in the team by selling it to say Quebec.
Anyway, being born in 1968, it’s been 54 years of Sabres hockey for me, 0-54 is pretty depressing, especially with an owner/situation being noncommittal to being a winning organization for the past bunch of years. Very evident he’s not trying to win.
Sucks
The losing which is awful isn't even the worst part for meSabres attendance and viewership held up remarkably well for the first 5+ years of missing the playoffs. But now we have the second worst attendance in the league, and rightly so. I'm not boycotting the Sabres but I think like a lot of fans my interest in watching the games is waning.
Utah plays in a building that was purpose built only to host NBA games. They have a ton of seats with obstructed views for NHL games. Those numbers aren’t just for fully sighted seats.Really? Utah?
Kind of surprised by that
