Enjoy retirement Bowness, you have earned it!! Wish health for you and your wife to enjoy retirement years. For the regular season at least - made significant progress instilling a solid defensive plan.

Dreaming of a new voice from well outside of the Organization with fresh voice and modern ideas. Resigned to the fact that "True North" will just promote a TN loyalist in Arniel to deliver the status quo, toe the line, and comply with perceived player demands (like 55 & 81 together and 3rd line getting more ice than second line, etc, etc).

Would absolutely love to be wrong about that.

He was great, I have nothing but respect for him. He taught the team a lot, even if it meant we still struggle in some areas. Happy Retirement Bones!

I suspect Chevy will take the same approach as when Maurice left, he will say the process will start from scratch and no one will have an advantage. Best candidate wins. If we don't get any top candidates, I suspect it will go to Arniel.

I'm looking forward to discussion on who we think is available, it's going to be an exciting summer.

Did a great job with what they wanted him to accomplish and what he was given when he got here.

The fact is the Jets talked him out of retirement to come here for a couple of years and hopefully right the ship. Given his and his family's health issues, retiring is the right think for him to do at this time IMO.

Well I’m sure he considered the trials and tribulations of the past season on his home life and I’m sure it had a lot to do with his decision. Enjoy your retirement Bones and thanks for the two very good seasons

Wish Bowness all the best! Enjoy your retirement, Coach!

But please Jets, don't mess this up. No quick solutions.. we need a good head coach.

I think Cheveldayoff is well aware that fans always want to be unwrapping the shiny new toy, and is equally aware that they get tired of playing with it about 5 minutes later, so he’ll probably go with what he considers best for the team, which could well be Arniel.

I sure wish this could have ended better for Rick Bowness but still it is an amazing achievement to have taken this formerly broken team to 4th overall of 32 and a Jennings trophy … I don’t recollect too many predictions of that nature here last fall.

Maybe we're still getting over Maurice staying 3 years past his due date.

He was all but set to retire two seasons ago when the bottom fell out of the Jets' head coaching options. Credit to him for stepping into a tumultuous hostile environment and effectively righting the ship. All the best to you and Judy.
Great post.
Some posters just don't give him enough credit on the job he inherited and what he has did for the Jets organization in just 2 years.

And at the end of this season, a lot of people here also didn't predict the Jet's getting bounced exactly like last year. Pro sports...*shrug*

Bones, great human being, I wish him all the best in retirement. I wish his wife all the best and hope her health issues are resolved. Bones helped with the defensive focus of the team, but we're ready for a new HC with a bit more balanced system IMO.

There are a few posters on here that think they can do a good job coaching an NHL team. I hope they put their names forward

yes, we'd have an amazing d group consisting the likes of vaunted NHLers like Chisholm and Kovacevic, along with Heinorris! might as well see what Sami Niku is doing too #FreeNiku. don't forget current HOF Center Cole Perfetti, & benching our yearly Vezina goalie for a career back-up.

Where is Stepniak when we finally have an open roster spot for him?
