Cap Wages now showing Buffalo with over 25 milly in cap space.

The possibilities seem endless this off season, but man I really hope they use that draft pick to select a player. With the current core, plus the next wave of prospects emerging, this is like creating a third wave of talent on top of all that. Still got the 20th overall, the 45th, Mrkta, maybe Kulick and Quinn as trade bait.
For 16 players. So, 7 open spots left.

Benson/Krebs will take up half of that on long term deals?

So, like $12 mill left for 5 spots. So, 1 bigger add is available to them and spend $3.5 to $4 mill to fill in the rest?

The actual number is closer to 26 million.

Benson 7 millon.
Malenstyn 3 million.
Krebs will fall somewhere around 3 million too.

Carrick and Helenius around another 1 million each.

That leaves 11 million for two more spots. Lots of room to maneuver.

See what they get their RFAs in at. Krebs is arb eligible.

Byram was stuck behind 2 guys, can't blame him not seeing any future in Buffalo - good luck to him in CHI. He'll get apples there, for sure.

Bo Byram thrived in a system where equally if not more gifted defenders he was paired with allowed him to excel, achieving career highs in goals, points, and TOI during his full two seasons in Buffalo. Dahlin and Power did more for Byram, than Byram ever did for Dahlin and Power. He wasn't stuck. He was blessed!

And over the course of two full seasons and change…those were the only two defenseman he wasn’t actively terrible with.

I hope Chicago has some first overall D laying around to pair with him.

Yeah, Levshunov is no Dahlin.

I giggled to myself a few times today when I remembered Greenway went out in this deal too.

What a ridiculous trade.

I know I’m going to feel like they lose the next one when they’re buying…but this one gave me so much joy,

San Jose is the only team trying for him that makes literally any sense to me.

Who do Chicago and the Rangers THINK they are? They aren’t Byram away from leaving the cellar. But they act like it. San Jose needs D and there aren’t a ton of options, they’re on the doorstep and they’re only getting better.

Perhaps Byram enjoys that abominable pizza they sling around over there.
