  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I’m still in a state of pleasantly stunned disbelief that we didn’t send *anything* else back. Like how did Chicago not even get a draft pick out of this?

Also big ups to Jarmo for pulling the “call the bad/overwhelmed GM” card, having the cojones to ask for the moon, and the poise to not bust out laughing as Davidson willingly gave all these assets up if they worked this out over the phone
I can just see the high fives after the call was finished.

He played 78 games with the Blackhawks last year. Averaged 17:08 in ice time and played with the Hawks' best defenseman in Alex Vlasic. I know plus minus is a flawed stat, but he somehow managed to be only a -2 on that Hawks team.

Dude is a legit NHLer. There MIGHT be a top 4 guy there. At minimum, he's shown he belongs in the NHL.
Also had the most points of the D corps.

No Helly? Bob is the one I really fear, heard that rumor today and hated it.
# 20, 2nd round pick and UPL would be all I'd give up for Helly. Goalies don't have a lot of trade value + he was bad last year and is 33 years old. That contract could become an albatross. Not everyone is as durable as Bob.

Of the many problems I have with turning around and trading for Hellebuyck this is the simplest one…

Let’s say you can get it done for 20 and UPL and whatever mid asset…but you keep 4. Ok. Looks fine on paper because I’m ignoring the other reasons for this excercise.

You still have to replace Tuch and Byram. And you’re probably making the pick at 4 at that point so it’s not helping you do that soon. You avoided giving up more pieces on the roster to upgrade in goal…but the team in front of him is in desperate need of two major acquisitions that you aren’t likely to get.

Now if I throw in my other reasons it’s basically a nightmare.

Seems like great return value but collectively we will have lost Byram and most likely Tuch, 2 big pieces from our resurgence last year. Anxious to see what happens next.

Also, one of the big things last season was that the team came together inside the locker room. A few more changes and even if we increase our overall talent, it will be a re-shuffling of the dice in that regard. Hope it works out.
