Both Simmonds and Clifford fined for actions against the Bolts

The fines make sense in both cases, but you really have to question how Footes elbow on Kerfoot doesn't get the same or more than Simmonds. That's been exactly the situations that have led to previous Leafs suspension the league has just decided to turn a blind eye to here. Common theme with us sadly.

I get the no fine for Kuch, it's an all or nothing situation where the League has to come down really hard to set a precedent or outright ignore. You can't have a kick be anything other than a substantial suspension and it likely doesn't warrant that given the outcome.
 
Leafs are nothing but a cash cow to the NHL. They should be treated like kings because of it yet it’s the polar opposite. If this occurs in the playoffs there’s nothing to lose for MLSE to go scorched earth on the NHL. If fans stop supporting the league then maybe they will listen. I’m expecting a lose in round one regardless but if the officiating is anything like the past then I may take a break unless MLSE goes nuclear on the NHL.

The bias the officiating and the DOPS has against the Leafs is going to make it completely impossible for them to win. That would make the most sense given what you believe. Continuing to hope for victory with that belief would be moronic. Only a dumbass would do that.
 
Clifford got what I thought he would because it makes the league look bad. The Simmons incident didn't deserve anything.

Does this make them repeat offenders if they do something else?

Perry should have been thrown out of the game at some point last night. It didn't surprise me that a bunch of our players were being thrown out after he was clearly antagonizing them.

Also, they were kicking our ass but still running our guys. How does Foote get away with the blatant elbow against Kerfoot? Better yet, why is he throwing an elbow while Tampa is up 8-1?

I also think Kuch knew what he was doing after he tried to run over Marner. Kuch is a world-class athlete and you really think he would just lose control of his legs that easily?

Anyway, maybe this is the last push the Buds need. Remember this game for the playoffs. The Leafs have demonstrated their ability to effectively respond over the course of this year -- I fully expect their best if we matchup with the Bolts.

How could you not fine Clifford for whacking Perry on the top of his unhelmeted head two or three times during a scrum? That was excessively dumb, and there's no way the league could miss it. He's lucky he wasn't suspended.

I have no idea why the TSN writer said he didn't get a penalty. He was given a match penalty, which is basically a five minute major plus a game misconduct.

The Simmonds hit might have gone unfined, but it started the squabble that got them both ejected.

I'm more upset about the play on Marner, and about Maroon frequently grabbing guys who are already wrestling with someone. I watched part of the Boston/Pittsburgh game, and every time there was a scrum one linesman immediately grabbed Marchand to keep him (and his stick) away.
 
I figured Clifford would something for the tap on Perry’s head. Kind of dumb but funny at the same time. Hopefully that shows Keefe he can’t trust Clifford to keep his cool.

Simmonds on the other hand, what did he do? I can’t recall anything aside from fights or hits which are part of the game right? I’ll have to look at it again

(Edit) ok I assume it’s the leaving of the feet on that hit. Didn’t do much damage. should have been a few fines against Tampa. Kucherov on Marner was a reckless attempted slew foot. Looks like Marner got hurt on it)

I am getting even more pissed at MLSE, Shanahan and Dubas. f***ing call out the bullshit from the NHL and DoPS.

Spezza never had been suspended if the f***ing refs called the game by the books when Sandin's knee was blown

Matthews never had been suspended if the f***ing refs had called the crosschecks on Dahlin

Toronto fans have three teams.. Sports teams. And I think gradually everyone is starting to believe me, when I said in 2006, that behind closed doors, this is wrestling integrity, in terms of the league, same for football, same for baseball.
