There was an interview last off season where Matthews mentioned he didn't care that much for individual accolades anymore. I think the kid is finally maturing. We are lucky to have him. Best Leaf since Sundin.

His interview today talking about the Leafs winning in different ways was encouraging. He knows what matters.

He knows that winning a Cup in Toronto is the elite of the elite in hockey anywhere on earth. There is no greater achievement. Even 200 point seasons are in more abundance when Gretzky played while Leafs haven't even had a sniff of the Cup.
