Boston is last in the East

It drives me crazy when I see these posts about how I am supposed to feel sorry for the Bruins, Pens or a couple of years ago, the Avs.
The Bruins will be back in a couple of years and people will talk about the black hole that the Bruins were in in 2025. Give me a break. Try being a Jackets fan with 1 series win in 25 years and that win was a miracle.
when you don't win often the wins are super special. Better days in the pipeline for Jackets I hope.

Might be a bit early to write them off as entering a 'rebuild' (whatever that is). They're just having a down back-half of season.

For me, it's good. Since the late 80s, I have occasionally cheered for Boston in the odd game and I've always enjoyed their franchise history. But the 2011-and-after era of the Bruins had some players I really didn't like, and -- most importantly -- Jack Edwards insufferable persona in broadcasting killed off any interest I had in the franchise.

So, I'm glad the franchise is kind of "turning the page" on the recent period and entering a new era.

I live in the Boston area and hate the Bruins, so I want to take a chemical shower after defending Edwards here, but it was never his job to be objective. His career was predicated on working on behalf of the Bruins and Bruins fans. He's not supposed to be objective or well-liked outside of New England, speaking to those people wasn't his job.

they'll draft their Bergeron 2.0 in the top 5 (Desnoyers) and the rebuild will start.

The problem is, there is no Bergeron 2.0

Here’s a rundown of the centers drafted in the 2-5 range since 2018:

Kotkaniemi
Hayton
Dach
Turcotte
Byfield
Beniers
MacTavish
Johnson
Cooley
Wright
Carlsson
Fantilli
Smith
Lindstrom

Everyone goes into a rebuild thinking they’ll just snap up some future HOF’ers and be back in the playoffs in five years. It rarely turns out that way.

Pathetic showing tonight, it was painful to watch. What a horrible roster.

Masterful tank I must say, 10 losses in a row, they'll draft their Bergeron 2.0 in the top 5 (Desnoyers) and the rebuild will start.

Yes...

How did they get so bad?

It's absolutely insane.

I've seen AHL teams with more talent.

Nothing is guaranteed but drafting high is still your best chance of getting an elite forward with team control.

I get what you're saying. However...

I have experienced numerous regional broadcasters over the years — including following more than a few for teams I don't particularly like — and I have never experienced a more unlikeable play-by-play persona than Edwards'. It's not so much that he was biased, which, as you say, is kind of understandable (when not taken to too severe a degree) in regional broadcasting. It's more that he was just very unlikable.

This is fair.

Of course, I’m just saying the chances of picking up another Bergeron with your first pick is pretty slim. Chances are you’ll be in that bottom-10 draft range for a while before getting traction.

I think the Bruins are starting a multi year tank at just the right time. Snag a sneaky top 4 pick this year, tank for McKenna next year and tank for DuPont the year after that.
