Good for Swayman. He's pushed the goalie market into closer alignment with the market for star defense and forwards.

I’ll go ahead and pre-emptively say that, as a Ranger fan, I would rather have Swayman on this contract than Igor on whatever his contract is going to be.

I think any goaltender contract that is signed before Shesterkin resets the market is going to look like a bargain in years to come—Swayman, Saros, Hellebuyck, Sorokin, etc.

That next wave of goalies due to be re-signed after Shesterkin’s extension are going to get what feel like outsized deals by comparison—Demko, Oettinger, Hill, etc.

Agreed, but it's better than the rumored 9.5M ask. Imagine if Swaymans "business" tactics was to drag this through the mud all along?

They made their own bed, should've signed him before trading Ullmark, though that would've plummeted his trade value.
