Post-Game Talk: Boston 2 - Devils 1 (SO)

There is no way Byfuglien makes team USA at all. Wayyyy too slow for Olympic ice. Don't see Bogosian making it. Not expecting Whitney or Gleason either.

I thought the defense played poorly for the 2nd game in a row.

Boston should have scored at least 4 goals yesterday, and maybe as many as 6 if they could have hit the broad side of a barn.

Ummm....Don't you think MOOSE may have had something to do with Boston not scoring "at least 4 goals yesterday"?

Give credit where credit is due, man.

They might view his "roaming" as an asset if they put him with a reliable partner. Who knows.

I wouldn't be surprised either way regarding Greene and Fayne. Greene almost made the team last time but wasn't eligible.

Wasn't eligible? Explain.

Byfuglien would get DESTROYED in the Olympics as a D-man. He would get beat to the outside every single shift with the amount of ice.

They could always put Byfuglien on the team as a forward/have him play the point on the power play lol, he has been freaky versatile.

They could use him as the 7th D, on the point of their PP. :sarcasm:

EDIT: of course I got beat to it!

Greene didn't take the proper testing beforehand so he was ineligible to play for Team USA. This was when his value was at an all-time high.

Why would they run 7D at the Olympics just for a PP specialist? The forwards for USA are stacked. 4th line is Brown-Backes-Callahan. Amazing.

Byfuglien was cut as a forward last time out, hasn't played much forward since, and USA's forwards are that much better than 2010.

Zids is playing exactly how he is going to. A genuine PMD. He is going to make mistakes at times and may cost us some goals. But at the same time he has 4 points in 5 games.

I know it's a new thing for Devils fans and some have ridiculous expectations. But there is a reason we got him for scraps. He will put up points but will struggle in other areas. We bought a Zidlicky, not a Webber.

No one really appreciates how good of a player he is. I think it's a combination of a bunch of factors:

1. Not a flashy player in the slightest
2. NJ Devil
3. NCAA player
4. 6th? round draft pick
5. Came out of no where
6. Incredibly dull name. Sounds like the lame kid in high school that everyone knew but no one cared to talk to.

All of these are definitely reasons for it. I think it's mostly because of his draft position though. You never hear about the late round picks who quietly make the NHL, the hype is always with the top picks.
