Rumor: Boston’s 7th oa available

How far off is this ?

to New York Islanders
Mittelstadt
Peeke
7th overall (Hagens?! if they get lucky)
$6.8m in cap space
BOS also adds something else ( what ? )

to Boston Bruins
Barzal
Pulock

What / how much needs to be added there to make that fair ?
Let’s try again without Barzal, Horvat or Mittelstadt or Peake.

Well, if Darche told both Barzal and Horvat they were staying, Dobson/Pageau is all that makes sense with what's left. I don't think the Isles would move Lee, Pulock or Pelech

Wouldn't be the first time a GM changed his mind when presented with a very good offer though. 1C's are hard to find so I can see why he'd rather keep Barzal.

It would have to be significant add given Islanders are giving up the better players by a decent margin.

There are rumors swirling... Zacha is available. With term left on his contract, his value won't be any higher than it is now.

If the Bruins obtain Pageau... there is less of a need for Zacha or Mittelstadt. At least one of two. Zacha has stated he prefers to play center.
Admittedly Zacha did not have his best season, but do not see how you are making your team better trading a 28 year-old top six for a 33 year old third liner.

If Boston is looking to get a young center who isn't a few years away what about a deal around Ritchie? He's as ready to go as any top 6 center prospect.

Seems like it'd just fast forward the impact of whoever they'd take at 7.

If it isn't Barzal I really don't see the value for the Bruins. They need help scoring goals in the top six and have the 7th OA as their trade bait.

I'm sure there are other options from other teams. Certainly better than Pageau. Maybe he's the trade for the Panthers 1st from the Marchand trade? Certainly not the 7th overall.

Darche met with both Barzal and Horvat and told
Them they wouldn’t be traded. Now it’s a business but it probably doesn’t bode too well with the rest of the players if a brand new first time GM went back on his word and did this.
Yeah, this isn't about Barzal. I'm sure it has to do with one of the RFA's.

I don't think it's likely Hagens will be available at 7. But I think Eklund would likely be available.

I can’t see Darche moving Barzal, Horvat, Sorokin, Holmstrom, Ritchie or Eiserman. I can see possibly Nelson or Finley being involved in terms of prospects.

I can't see BOS moving 7 for a LD or for Pageau as the main piece.

I don't think there is a deal between these 2 teams that make any sense. The source of this "rumor" is pretty infamous for some horrible "scoops" that were 100% false.

Pageau does nothing to help the Bruins roster as it is. Another middle 6 two way center that doesn't add much to the table offensively to go along with the other two way middle 6 centers that doesn't add much to the table offensively.

Agreed. Nothing of 7th overall value to be had from the Islanders POV so this doesn't involve the 7th overall. Maybe one of the 1sts from the Toronto or Florida trades.

Not shocked. He seems about as logical as a Larry Brooks take for a team not named the Rangers. For all we know, Sweeney called to ask about players and Darche told him the names on his list aren’t available for the 7th and some filler garbage (aka Mittelstadt).

If the Bruins trade the pick, a 1st or 2nd line center had better be coming back. I personally would rather package the 7th OVA to move up to 3rd (Chicago said they were open to trades), or 4th with Utah. Getting Misa/Hagens/Frondell/ Desnoyers cost controlled for 6 years is far better than getting someone who is on a larger contract, or will be getting a larger contract sooner than later.

I would do something like 7th OVA plus zacha and another pick ( a 2nd? maybe a 1st in a few years?). Not sure what the general cost for jumping 3-4 positions in the NHL is, its not as cut and dry as the NFL draft values.
