Rumor: Boston’s 7th oa available

Why would you trade Zacha for a late pick, he and is contract are more valuable than a late 1st round pick.
There are rumors swirling... Zacha is available. With term left on his contract, his value won't be any higher than it is now.

If the Bruins obtain Pageau... there is less of a need for Zacha or Mittelstadt. At least one of two. Zacha has stated he prefers to play center.

With a roster that’s not even close to competing and zero prospects
On the plus side. The Bruins have lots of 1st/2nd round picks in the next 2-3 years.

A perfect opportunity for Sweeney to trade most - disregard the future.

If he plays his cards correctly. He could come out with a Pageau, Necas.

The team is at least one good second line and one more top 4 D ... to have a decent chance at a WC spot.

If I'm Boston, Horvat + Dobson seem like pieces that fit best and could potentially help to quickly retool and be competitive again. I'm not sure Barzal is the right fit for how they want to play.

7OA for Hovat + Dobson with some cap and contracts going back and Boston is looking quite a bit more solid with a backbone of Lindholm/Zacha/Hovat at C+ Lindholm/McAvoy/Dobson at D + Swayman.

Lol you'd probably have to add to 7 just to get Dobson. And you want Horvat too? Id think im in the Bruins section right now

Horvat + Dobson will cost quite significantly more than the 7oa. Like way more

Err, my apologies. I'm not well aware of the value of those guys. I was thinking more conceptually if it was cap/contracts out and futures, Boston could quickly become a team that cannot be ignored.

Is it still something worth considering for both sides if Boston has to add more futures to 7OA to make it happen? IIRC, Boston still has their future 1st and 2nd rounders. Or is it still fundamentally flawed for both sides and not worth figuring out as it wouldn't happen at all due to some key issue with the logic?

I'm not a fan of either team but I'd imagine Boston's 1sts in 2025 + 2026 + the other 1st they have in 2026 is probably close to fair value

I would imagine the play here is the Isles would get the 7th and try to move up for Hagens.

Now what they have that the Bruins would give up the 7th for I'm not sure. Barzal? Boston doesnt seem like a fit for Dobson

It's gotta be Barzal. They need a 1C badly especially if they intend to compete again during Pasta/McAvoy's primes.

Well, if Darche told both Barzal and Horvat they were staying, Dobson/Pageau is all that makes sense with what's left. I don't think the Isles would move Lee, Pulock or Pelech

Looks decent.

Or

Maybe the Islanders flip the 1st. For Hawks 3rd, 25th, a high end prospect forward/defenseman.

Then flip the 25th + Pageau + Holmstrom for the 7th + Poitras + salary filler.

I would want Eiserman.... but I could also see the Islanders plan to play Hagens with Eiserman someday.

With the 3rd Islanders take Hagens. 7th pick take Mrtka

Of maybe just 7 + Dobson for 3 and grab Hagens.

Trading that #7 pick to mortgage the future just to be the 8th seed ala Minnesota 2010s style and get blown out in the first round of the playoffs. One reason Florida beat them twice in the playoffs is they don't have a 1C and throwing away their chance at a 1C with #7 is something else. O'Brien, Frondell, McQueen or Hagens could all end up being that guy for them. Imagine O'Brien on same line as Pastrnak, that be a heck of a duo, a 6'2 playmaking center with a sniper like Pastrnak.

The reason why you never see top 10 picks at the draft traded for high cap players is because a few days later you can get a ufa for free. So the islanders trade bar zap for 7th OA and sign boeser July 1. Now the trade is barzal (whose best year was his rookie year and injured half the year) for a 7 OA and boeser. This would be a no brainer for NYI.

How far off is this ?

to New York Islanders
Mittelstadt
Peeke
7th overall (Hagens?! if they get lucky)
$6.8m in cap space
BOS also adds something else ( what ? )

to Boston Bruins
Barzal
Pulock

What / how much needs to be added there to make that fair ?
